Frequently Asked Questions

What order are the accommodation listings in?
Random! Listings are randomised on all pages except on Search by Map pages which are categorised and alphabetised (i.e. randomised means every time the page is viewed the order of the listings changes).
On Town pages (e.g. Oudtshoorn) the listing order is changed every time the page is viewed.
On Region pages (e.g. Karoo) the listing order changes every 24 hours.

What do you charge for updates?
SA-Venues.com does not charge Accommodation Establishments for updates (within reason). This is included in the annual advertising fee. Excessive number of updates may incur a cost but you will be advised beforehand, in the unlikely event that updates to your pages need to be charged for. Travel Service Providers (including Car Hire) and Tour Operators receive 1 free update per year. Thereafter any updates will need to be charged for.

I have forgotten my member log-in username and password?
Go to the members login page at: http://www.sa-venues.com/member/
Click on the "Forgotten Password" link and then fill in your e-mail address. Your login details will be e-mailed to you immediately.

Why does it say "No price range submitted" next to my listings?
If it says "No price range submitted" next to your establishment on the listing pages it is because you have not entered a price range. This is owner managed - Log in to the Members Area (as mentioned above) and add your price range. (You will find this under Additional Info > General Information).

Why do I have to be accredited?
Accommodation and travel service providers wishing to advertise on SA-Venues.com are required to be members of or accredited by one of the Regional or National Tourism Associations or Accommodation Associations. Whilst we do not intend to put our advertisers to additional expense, as we do not visit each establishment ourselves, it is important for our visitors peace of mind that an accreditation exists, so that they can be sure the establishment actually exists and that the description provided is accurate. It is also our experience after 10 years of managing this site, that overseas guests in particular, are far more comfortable booking with an accredited establishment.

Accreditations for a second establishment:
If you already have an establishment listed on SA-Venues.com that is accredited by one of the recommended accreditation agencies as listed above and you want to list a second property that you own, we do not require the second establishment to have full accreditation.

My Establishment is "Pet-friendly" but does not appear on the Pet Friendly Pages:
To appear on the Pet-friendly pages you need to have ticked this in the members area as a facility / service you offer. Log in to the Members Area. Go to Services & Facilities > On Site Facilities and then tick "Pet-Friendly (by arrangement)". Your establishment will now appear on the applicable Pet-Friendly listing page.

My Establishment is "Wheelchair Friendly" but is not listed as such:
To appear on the Wheelchair friendly pages you need to have ticked this in the members area as a facility you offer. Log in to the Members Area. Go to Services & Facilities > In Room / Unit Facilities and then tick "Wheelchair Friendly". Your establishment will now appear on the applicable Wheelchair Friendly listing page.

Why do you not display my E-mail Address?
Our system "hides" e-mail addresses to prevent spammers being able to retrieve your e-mail address from our web site. Spammers use software to "crawl" big web sites like SA-Venues.com for "harvesting" of e-mail addresses which they can then add to their mailing lists to send you their spammy offers. The system we have in place does not prevent an actual human-being from filling in the form on our page and offering you something you don't want, but it does stop automated spam from being sent via our site or worse, from your e-mail address being added to a spam list you can never be removed from.

Why do I still get "spam" offers via your site?
We cannot prevent humans from filling in the forms as that would also prevent you from receiving any enquiries. We have a clear message on the form that states: Do not contact us offering services or anything of a commercial nature. Using this form for marketing purposes or to distribute unsolicited mail will result in legal action - but it appears that some people either cannot read, do not think it applies to their service or simply do not understand English.

As soon as we become aware that someone is sending mail from our forms to our advertisers offering their "services", we can block their use of the forms - so if you do receive any of these, please e-mail it to helen@sa-venues.com and we will stop them. We usually pick it up very quickly but on occasion it does happen that up to 10 advertisers will have received the "spammy offer" before we manage to block these mails.

Can I add a link to a real time availability system to my page?
No. Not at the present time.

Why am I not listed under Conferences?
In order to be listed under Conference Venues we must have a minimum of 50 - 100 words of text (a short paragraph) with details of the conference facilities offered, including minimum and maximum number of delegates you can host for a conference, equipment available, catering etc. No text = no listing.

SA-Venues.com is not a booking agent and does not charge any commission or service fees to users of this site, thereby saving you money. Full contact details, photographs and descriptions of facilities or services are provided for all service providers and your enquiries go directly to the South African hotels and accommodation establishments of your choice.
