AREA ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES
The Eastern Free State is a beautiful part of our country. We are approximately 20km from the Golden Gate, 32km from Bethlehem and close to the Lesotho border. Clarens offers river rafting, quad biking, horse riding, game farms, hiking, golf, fly fishing, abseiling, archery and many, many more activities. There are numerous art galleries, pottery shops, etc. etc. We also have a selection of excellent restaurants.
Some of the many annual events include the Cherry Festival which takes place every year in November, National hot air balloon championships in May/June, Maluti Classic Cycle tour in October, Harley Davidson weekend in November, Surrender Hill Marathon in February, to name a few. Our little town is a haven for artists of all kinds and we are the first town in South Africa to receive the ‘Proudly South African’ award. |
