Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Cape Town International Airport to Cape Town
I will be at the airport upon your arrival at 1.10 pm. After your check in at the Hotel, we will do a short city tour and a visit to the top of Table Mountain with the cable car weather permitting. You are staying at the City Lodge in the Waterfront.

Overnight: City Lodge, Waterfront (b&b)

Day 2: Cape Town
This will be a half day. I will show you the city centre and its Malay quarter, museum and the Cape of Good Hope Castle. The afternoon you can spend at the Waterfront. The Waterfront is our premier tourist attraction. Its situated in the old part of the harbour, which has been renewed and renovated with many restaurants, shops and pubs. That area is totally safe for tourists to wonder around till late.

Day 3: Cape Town
No visit to Cape Town is complete without a visit to the famous Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope Reserve. We will spend the whole day driving around the peninsula, past many beaches, visit a penguin colony and take the funicular up to the Point. You will get back late afternoon but with many good memories.

Day 4: Cape Town
Today we will visit the wine lands of the Cape. First to Stellenbosch and Franschoek. Then we will visit a wine estate and enjoy a wine tasting. It will be harvesting time and the wine estates will be busy. In the late afternoon I will take you back to your hotel.

Day 5: Cape Town to Oudtshoorn
We leave Cape Town and drive the Du Toit Kloof pass into the Karoo, a semi-desert, to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of S Africa. Along the way we see succulents and aloes and small fruit farms, situated along the dry riverbeds. Once there, we will visit an ostrich farm before retiring to our hotel, The Thorntree.

Day 6: Oudtshoorn to Knysna
After visiting the Cango Caves, we leave the Karoo behind, cross over the Outeniqua Mountains, to the coast. We travel through George and Wilderness and arrive in Knysna. This is the centre of the Garden Route. The town lies on the estuary and it also has a little Waterfront, called Knysna Quays.
There will be time for a bit of shopping before going on a sunset cruise on the lagoon.
We are staying at Bradach Manor, which has spectacular views of the lagoon.

Day 7: Knysna to Port Elizabeth
The Garden Route is famous for its scenic beauty, with many flowers and forests and mountains. On our way to Port Elizabeth today, we will visit our premier seaside town, Plettenberg Bay. Then we will take a little walk in the Tsitsikamma National Park. The Tsitsikamma Forest is the largest indigenous forest in South Africa. We will also view an 800 year old Yellowwood tree. We arrive in Port Elizabeth and are staying at the Courtyard Hotel, situated at the seafront.

Day 8: Port Elizabeth to Kariega Game Reserve
We will leave after breakfast and an hour later, visit the Addo National Park for a quick but exciting visit to the elephant park, where there are more elephants per sq. foot than anywhere else. Then we continue till we get to Kariega Game Reserve at about lunchtime. You will leave on your first game drive, late afternoon, in an open landrover, very close to the animals. Full board is included, all meals and all game drives.

Day 9: Kariega Game Reserve
Again you will enjoy a game drive in the morning and one in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Kariega Game Reserve to Umtata
After your last game drive and breakfast we depart Kariega and drive along the N2, past East London to Umtata, the centre of the old Homeland, Transkei. This is the birthplace of Mandela and still a very rural part of South Africa. We see rolling hills and many huts with cattle and goats roaming around. We arrive late in Umtata and stay at the Southern Sun Garden Court

Day 11: Umtata to Durban
After breakfast we continue through the Transkei but in a very short time we are in the Province, KwaZulu Natal the land of the Zulu. At the coast we see many small holiday and seaside resorts this is known as the Hibiscus Coast. We arrive late afternoon in Durban. We are staying at the Mandalay Guesthouse, near the city.

Day 12: Durban
Today I will show you this beautiful colonial city. We will visit the Indian Market, where we will also get a glimpse of the traditional African market, then its there city centre with its colonial style City Hall and the harbour entrance. We end off at the Marine parade and the beach.

Day 13: Durban to Durban International Airport
We depart for the airport. Tour ends.
