Out in Africa Film Festival in Mafikeng

For the third year running the Out in Africa Film Festival returns to Mafikeng. This gay and lesbian film festival has proven to be very popular, with more than three hundred and fifty people from all over the North West traveling to Mafikeng every year to attend the film screenings.

On 19 and 20 March gay and lesbian people (and their family and friends) will again gather at the Mmabana Mafikeng Theatre for free showings of a number of short and feature films.

On the program this year are South African short films like Beautiful Contradictions, In His Image and Jacaranda Sunrise. Feature movies include Zackie Achmat's Apostles of Civilised Vice and the very popular Noah's Arc : Jumping the Broom, the feature movie that concludes the two very successful American series of the same name.

With so few activities in the Province aimed at the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community, this film festival is one of the annual highlights. Presented in association with local community organisation Gay Umbrella, the Out in Africa Film Festival is an event not to be missed.
