Kiwifruit Festival in Magoebaskloof & Haenertsburg

The events will include guided tours of the kiwifruit orchards where visitors can see the fruit being picked from the vines. There will also be tours of the pack houses and visitors will be able to see how the local Grappa is produced and to taste freshly picked kiwifruit.

On Saturday and Sunday there will be a Harvest Market in the village of Haenertsburg. Besides loads of kiwifruit for sale there will be a variety of different kiwifruit products, such as pies, pickles, preserves and even ice cream. There also will be a wide selection of speciality foods such as organic cheeses, wild mushrooms, trout, fresh produce, jams and preserves on sale.

The Iron Crown Pub and Grill has some special events planned. Glenshiel Hotel will host a Kiwi Kids Carnival with all-day fun and games including a jumping castle, kiwi-and-spoon races, bobbing for kiwis, quad bikes etc.

A Kiwi-Cookout is planned with local chefs vying with each other to produce the most delectable kiwifruit dishes. The Red Plate Restaurant will offer special menus and will provide musical entertainment on Sunday. The Pot & Plow Restaurant is hosting a fancy dress party on Saturday evening. Great food, great music and lots of fun.

Other events include a bass fishing competition, adventure sports, paddle boat cruises on Ebenezer dam, hiking, tours of the organic cheese farm, horse riding and a chance to explore the fascinating history of the area, birding and chance to enjoy the autumn colours at Cheerio Gardens.
