Where: Magoebaskloof
Categories: Annual Festivals / Fauna & Flora
This area is the flagship of one of the sub-routes of the Greater Limpopo Birding Routes - the Capricorn-Letaba Birding Route, which, in association with Glendower, will be hosting the third Birds and Forests Festival, this year from the 14th to the 16th of November.
The festival will celebrate the rich biodiversity of these forests, so there will be lectures given by specialists in forest birds, trees, fish, frogs, mammals, butterflies and reptiles, as well as outings into the various forests of the area. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the Afromontane forest of Woodbush and Black Forest as well as the riverine forests at Debengeni Falls and on the upper Letaba.
Visitors can look forward to spending the weekend with experts in their fields like Joe Grosel, Les Minter, David Letsoalo, Derek Engelbrecht, Mike Amm, Cathy Dzerefos, Sonnette Krynauw, Ben de Boer and Vincent Egan.
Local bird guides and birders will accompany all the outings to ensure that no birds are overlooked. The exciting programme allows participants to experience the biodiversity of the beautiful forests of Magoebaskloof while catching glimpses of Black-fronted Bush-Shrike, Cape Parrot, Bat Hawk and Green Twinspot.
