ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES

Within easy reach are the following “not to be missed” places of incredible natural beauty: Lone Creek Falls, Horseshoe Falls , Bridal Veil Falls and Sabie Falls which are all within 9 kilometres of Wayfarers, then Mac Mac Pools and Mac Mac Falls are a mere 13 kilometres away en-route to Graskop.

After this enter The Blyde River Canyon and enjoy the Pinnacle, Gods Window and Wonder View before moving on to the majestic Berlin Falls, followed by the absolutely awesome splendour of Bourkes Luck Potholes. Ten minutes further up the road one can enjoy the majesty of The Three Rondavels and the tranquil Blydepoort Dam in the distance.

Make your way back via Lisbon Falls to Pilgrims Rest, the oldest Gold Mining town in South Africa, where nothing has changed for more than a Century. An excellent lunch can be enjoyed at The Royal Hotel in Pilgrims Rest. Other attractions within easy reach are The Sudwala Caves, Casterbridge Farm Shopping Centre, Shangana Cultural Village and The Botanical Gardens, situated behind Riverside Mall in Nelspruit.

A day trip to Hoedspruit to visit the Endangered Wildlife Centre is another possibility. Along the road to Hazyview is the Sabie Valley Coffee Estate, Quad Bike Trails and The Elephant Sanctuary, and many excellent restaurants.

And finally, the biggest attraction of them all, The Kruger National Park, is a mere 45 minutes drive from Wayfarers, making day visits extremely practical. For those making early starts, breakfast boxes are provided.

This was a home from home stay for us. The room very comfortable, breakfasts delicious and Chris and Merle made us feel most welcome and offered many useful tips. We would definitely return if in the area in future, most likely as Gods Window was shrouded in mist again, as was the whole region.
