Sugarbird is a self-catering, two-sleeper cottage located at Katrinasrust, set along the river beneath Ouhout and Pin Oak trees. Ideal for couples seeking a peaceful escape, the cottage offers a quiet and private retreat surrounded by nature.

Accommodation

The cottage is fully equipped for self-catering, featuring a well-appointed kitchen and a KolKol wood-fired hot tub for relaxing under the stars. A generous supply of wood is provided for fireplaces, braais, and the hot tub, with additional wood available for purchase. A dedicated housekeeper is on hand to assist with daily tasks such as dishwashing, bed-making, and fire preparation, ensuring a comfortable stay.

Onsite Facilities

Sugarbird has Wi-Fi, while the rest of the farm is off-grid with no mobile signal. A shared Wi-Fi area is available for guests staying in other cottages. Katrinasrust encourages a digital detox, and there are no televisions in any of the cottages. Trout fishing is included in all stays at no extra charge, with fly fishing as the only permitted method. Catch-and-release is encouraged, but guests may keep a fish or two to enjoy during their stay.

Pets

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement.

The farm’s water is sourced from the mountains and is safe for drinking and swimming. Guests should bring all necessary supplies, including tea, coffee, and condiments, as there are no nearby shops. The closest restaurant, Milly’s, is a 30-minute drive away and serves breakfast and lunch.
