Sederkloof Lodge provides accommodation in Baviaanskloof. Hear the silence in this remote breathtaking wilderness in the heart of the Baviaanskloof World Heritage Site. Perched precariously in the saddle of a ridge with panoramic views of the dramatic gorge and mountains, stone and glass chalets blend perfectly with their surroundings.

Accommodation

Sederkloof Lodge is a villa in Baviaanskloof that can accommodate twelve guests in 6 rooms. The villa is split into six air conditioned units. Each unit is carefully sited at the edge of a gorge in such a way as to provide complete privacy to its guests as well as affording a private view of the gorge and mountain unimpaired by other human artifacts.

The units are furnished with two single beds or a King-size bed, a bar fridge, two comfortable lounge chairs, two deck chairs and a deck umbrella, toiletries, gowns, hand mirror and hairdryer, air conditioning, safe, writing desk, reading lamps, candles, insect repellent, battery torch, coffee, tea. The en-suite bathrooms are fitted with a toilet and basin. There is a private shower outside. Each room has a freestanding bath with a view.

A short walk from the units stands the Lodge, spectacularly located on the edge of another gorge with glorious views of the Baviaanskloof Mountains. Within the Lodge is a comfortable sitting area for guests who wish to socialise. Outside is a large deck, part under cover and part open, with loungers on which to tan and a crystal clear swimming pool for that refreshing plunge. We have a wonderful fire pit / braai area.

Attractions

There are several walks around the lodge and the farm. The walks will take you deep into the gorges where you can walk along the river bed. Clear mountain water will quench your thirst and on hot summer days you can cool off in mountain pools. You will encounter some amazing plant life and see original Bushman rock art. On the longer day walks, high in the mountain, you will also encounter magnificent examples of the rare Willowmore Cedar Trees.

The day excursions into the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area will take you past high mountain passes, deep river valleys and abundant wildlife. This area is a nature lovers dream. A picnic at Geelhoutbos with its large Yellowwood and wild fig trees is part of the trip. During our scenic and game drives on Sederkloof, on our way to the Valley of the Cedar trees we take you into the game camp. This protected piece of natural beauty offers the chance to see kudu, oryx (gemsbok), grysbok or even some of the many shy nocturnal species like porcupine, bush pig or even a glimpse of a leopard.

In the evenings after dinner you can marvel at the starry splendour and explore the nature of our galaxy. Sit back and enjoy an unequivocal view of the Milky Way above and learn about some of the more detailed wonders of the Southern night sky.
