The first thing that strikes you about the leafy garden suburb of Yellowwood Park, just 14 kilometres from Durban, is that the majority of the roads are named after birds - Lark Lane, Kestrell Road, Wren Way - and that, as these may well indicate, this is a birdwatcher’s paradise, particularly with the Kenneth Stainbank Reserve well within its parameters. FROM MARION HILL PLAZA
The off ramp to the N2 splits into North and South Coast. Take the South / N2. Travel approx 5 kilometers, look out and take the Chatsworth / Mobeni onramp. At the top of the ramp, turn left into Higginson Highway. Stay on left side of road. Go past an Engen Garage on your left, and turn left into first left turn. Go up the hill, through 3 circles (approx 2 kilometer). At the stop street turn left into Kenyon Howden Road (Shoprite Checkers on opposite corner) Go straight for about 2 kilometers, over the bridge going over the N2, then at the small circle, carry on straight (not far) and take sharp turn right into Kingfisher Ave, over 3 traffic humps, and first Right turn into Woodpecker circle. Go halfway round circle, we are number 38.
FROM KING SHAKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Go onto N2 South for approx 40km; follow directions as above from Marion Hill Plaza.
FROM DURBAN CITY CENTRE
Go onto the M4 going south. Take off ramp number 6 (Jacobs / Clairwood). At the traffic light at the bottom of the ramp, turn right. At the first large traffic light turn left. Carry on straight, cross one set of traffic lights, and a pedestrian traffic light. (stay on right side of road) over a bridge) turn right into Kenyon Howden Road. Go up the hill, approx 4km, past Shoprite Checkers on your right side. Go straight for about 2 kilometers, over the bridge going over the N2, then at the small circle, carry on straight (not far) and take sharp turn right into Kingfisher Ave, over 3 traffic humps, and first Right turn into Woodpecker circle.
