Melkbos Cottage offers Cederberg accommodation in Mount Ceder, on the Northern side of the river near the olive groves and within a short walking distance to the Varkkloof cliffs. It is a great wilderness area with majestic views, amazing spring flowers, rugged mountain bike rides, walks and hikes – perfect for the young and not-so young.

Melkbos Cottage in Cederberg sleeps two guests. The bedroom is furnished with two single beds and the bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet and basin.

The kitchenette area contains a fridge and a gas stove. This unit has an indoor fireplace and an outdoor braai facility.

The view of the olive grove and valley is spectacular from the veranda.

The cottage runs on energy generated from solar panels powered by the abundant sunshine naturally found in the Cederberg mountains. LED lights and a fridge/freezer are powered by solar charged 12 volt batteries. Due to the limited power available there is no microwave and there are no electrical plug points that can be used to charge electrical devices or operate hair dryers etc.

Dining

The Old Mill House is a licensed restaurant at Mount Ceder, serving breakfasts, light lunches and dinners. The meals are served on a fixed menu basis and cater for most dietary requirements. Evening meals do need to be pre-booked 24 hrs in advance and any special dietary requirements made known when booking.

Activities

With a perennial clear river, wonderful bird life and stunning mountain scenery, Mount Ceder has activities for every taste and level of fitness. Come to the Cederberg and enjoy the mountain scenery and the many activities Mount Ceder has to offer, or just read a book at your house and relax. In addition to the many opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and swimming on the property, we are also within driving distance to many other Cederberg attractions and various 4x4 routes.
