Even before our arrival, the communication with Christa was so warm and friendly, the excitement built up a while before we had even left Cape Town. We were specifically looking for a dog-friendly place, more-so one with an enclosed garden area for them in case we wanted to take a quick drive into town and a more perfect spot we couldn't have hoped to find. A short drive from Cape Town, once there the dogs settled in almost immediately, which of course allowed us to relax into the weekend. The little cottage is well maintained, the garden, whilst "wild" looking, you can see the love and attention is has received, and is wonderfully water-wise. (Definitely an inspiration for me to draw on for my own garden!) It has all the amenities including some nice bird watching books. If you're a photography enthusiast, bring your camera. I had my 300mm lens there and was not disappointed with all the birds and wildlife around. The warm welcome we received was much appreciated, as was the sms later to inquire if we needed anything. It was an extra touch that I have not received at many places before. Would I recommend Journey's End? I want to say no, because then there will be more available days for us to go back, but I cannot tell a lie; I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful and tranquil stay! If for no other reason than for the spectacular sunset from the porch. If you're up for it, a short walk down the road the next morning and the sunrise is just as breathtaking. Also, next time we know about the Cacti Nursery two houses down, so will make a point to visit them as well. Will we be returning? Annually, at least! We can't wait! PS: Please thank the neighbours for their entertaining front gardens as well!
