About Hillwatering Country House

Hillwatering Country House is located in a quiet and peaceful residential area just a couple of minutes from the restaurants and the centre of Sabie. Less than 4 hours from Johannesburg International Airport. Hillwatering Country House is the place to stay for visiting the Panorama Route and trips into the Kruger National Park.

At Hillwatering we offer our guests 4 very spacious bedrooms all with their own bathrooms. Some rooms have queen beds and others twin beds (three-quarter size). From these bedrooms you can step outside through the French doors onto a veranda, where you can sit and enjoy the clean mountain air, spectacular views of the mountains and forest clad slopes and the 70 metre high Bridal Veil Falls.

All the veranda’s look onto the garden where we encourage the local birds with our huge variety of plants and flowers.

In the summer we serve our English and Continental breakfasts on the veranda’s, (weather permitting) if the morning is chilly we move inside by the log fire. We also do a packed picnic breakfast if you require an early start for a trip to the Kruger Park or to your next destination.

We have secure parking and smoke free rooms. Smoking is permitted outside on the veranda. All our rooms have fridges, fans, heaters (Electric Blankets in winter) tea/coffee making facilities. Hairdryers are available on request.

Riana and Ane originally come from The Netherlands, they traveled extensively in South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana and are only too willing to assist you in your travel plans or day trips.

The little forestry town of Sabie is situated on the Mpumalanga Drakensberg escarpment and is malaria free. From Sabie there are numerous sights to see and things to do, the most popular being the Panorama route.

The Panorama route is an easy days outing from Sabie, the whole round trip is less than 200 kms and includes attractions such as Mac Mac Falls, The Pinnacle, God’s Window, Berlin and Lisbon Falls, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the world famous Blyde River Canyon, where you can view the three Rondavels and then finish off your day with a visit to the historical old gold mining town of Pilgrims Rest.

Other major attractions within a days drive include visiting the Kruger National Park, Sudwala caves, Kaapsehoop or a visit to Nelspruit to see the Lowveld Botanical Gardens and the Long Tom Pass.
