Self Catering Accommodation

Golden Delicious @ Oak Lane is a self-catering Holiday Home in Elgin that comfortably accommodates a family or group of 4 people. The cottage has two bedrooms, one is furnished with a double bed and the other is furnished with two single beds. There is one bathroom fitted with a bath, toilet and basin.

The open plan lounge/kitchen area has as sitting area, a dining table and a kitchen with an indoor braai. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering with gas oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. All crockery, cutlery and glassware are supplied.

Outside there is a grassy area and outdoor braai facilities. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed The farm has a small play area for children with swings and a jungle gym.

Additional Services

Breakfast Baskets:
We offer breakfast baskets on request at an additional cost per person. Baskets include fresh croissants, jams, cheese, butter, cold meat and yoghurt all locally sourced from our Elgin Valley. Breakfast baskets will be hand delivered every morning at 08h30.

Picnic Baskets:
Oak Lane Cottages has beautiful spots for picnics. We offer picnic baskets at an additional cost per person that includes a variety of snacks and a bottle of wine all locally sourced in our Elgin Valley.

Location & Experiences

The scenic towns of Greyton, Hermanus, Stanford, Villiersdorp and Caledon are all within easy driving distance of the farm, as are the coastal towns of Kleinmond, Betty's Bay, Pringle Bay and Rooi Els. Activities on the farm include mountain biking on our own trails (Lebanon Mtb Trails) which start and end at the cottages, jogging, hiking, bird watching, and swimming.

Please read “Unacceptable”above. To be honest, I would have appreciated a bit more openness when we booked the cottage. The bathroom, which has no shower is situated off the second bedroom, so in order to use it, you have to walk through your fellow guest’s bedroom. Broken chairs, broken windows, a kitchen sink that did not drain properly, no latch on a bedroom door and no storage for a self catering cottage did not add to our comfort. We were subsequently told, only after enquiring, that there was a separate shower and toilet outside for our use. Overall, a very unenjoyable stay at a cottage badly in need of TLC, which is certainly not inexpensive. Not recommended at all. The only redeeming feature was the beauty of the Elgin valley itself!
