About the Nama-Gôi Festival

The Nama-Gôi arts festival is an event aimed at bringing arts and culture to the Namakwa District, as well as giving exposure to local artists, and promoting their work. This event is hosted by the non-profit organization, Namakwa Arts and Culture Foundation, a group that is passionate about art.

The event will take place on the 29th, 30th and 31st of October 2015. The festival will include a beer tent were the festival goers can quench their thirst an enjoy all of the arts and music that will be on display and will serve as the party centre of the festival. There will also be performances by an array of national as well as local musicians and entertainers on a big professional stage.

Apart from the before mentioned attractions the festival will also showcase a marketplace for local vendors to sell their goods as well as children’s entertainment and much more. This year we are aiming for even more entertainment. The festival will be launched with the Crowning of our Miss Nama-Gôi pageant winner and a performance by a performing arts circus, and will wrap up with our main act on the Saturday night.

The goal of the Namakwa Arts and Culture Foundation is to give local artists a platform to exhibit their talents during the festival. This will be achieved by the market place and arts gallery which are dedicated for vendors and artists to exhibit their goods and show their talents on the various platforms that will be available at the festival . A well-known local dance company ( Dance Garage) will also prepare a special Nama-Gôi production that will be performed on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the main stage.
