About the Cellar Rats Winter Wine Festival

The Red Roman Shed at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg is set to rock on Saturday, 2 June 2018, when the Cellar Rats Winter Wine Festival will be hosted here. This festival is going to showcase a range of South Africa’s most delicious and most popular wines. But, more than this, craft beers and other distilled liquors will also get their turn in the spotlight in a real celebration of the world-class flavours and top-notch quality coming out of this country.

Visitors can look forward to sampling reds, whites, sparkling wines, ports, brandies, gins, cocktails and even some Portuguese wines as they wander around the trendy venue and linger over some of their favourites. With more than 400 products to see and savour, you’ll be spoilt for choice. These wines, beers and spirits will be available for purchase at discounted festival prices; and can be bought by the bottle or the case.

In addition to these delicious wines and craft goodies, there will be food and deli vendors. Look out for moreish spreads, decadent chocolates, delicious biltong, irresistible olives, homely pastas and much more. These make for the perfect complement to a refreshing beer or a comforting glass of Cabernet.

This venue is centrally situated and easily accessible, even for those using the Gautrain or other public transport. There are also shuttle busses travelling from the OR Tambo International Airport’s international arrivals area to Emperors Palace throughout the day. There will be music and entertainment all day, thanks to 93.8 MixFM’s live broadcast from the event.

This exciting event is being held to support the worthy charities of Dogtown SA and Kids Haven. Tickets are available on Computicket and cost between R100 and R135.

Doors open at 11h00 and close at 16h00. Parents with children between three and 12 years old can make use of the Jupiter’s childcare facility at Emperors Palace, while they peruse the stalls, as children younger than 18 years and not in prams or strollers will not be permitted to enter the wine festival. The entire festival is wheelchair-friendly, and parking is available at a cost of R10.
