The Rosebank Rooftop Market was established in 1993 with the aim of formalising the hawker trade of local and international vendors. Today, it is a bustling indoor market that is brimming with stunning keepsakes and artefacts from all over South Africa and Africa.
Goods include beadwork, carvings, textiles, jewellery, accessories, ceramics and other pieces of art. These make for stunning mementos for visitors wanting something to take back home to friends and family.
There are a number of restaurants and less formal eateries around the market, allowing visitors to take a break from their shopping expedition and refresh themselves before exploring the market again.
There are about 600 stalls at the market, all testimony to the African spirit of entrepreneurship. Live music provides the ideal backing track to your shopping experience.
Admission is free and the market is open between 09:00 and 17:00 on Sundays and public holidays.
