DESCRIPTION:
An exotic guest house with a private beach. Whale View Manor is situated in historic Simon’s Town and close to Boulders Beach, famous for it’s jackass penguins.
Overlooking a secluded beach and with a backdrop of majestic mountain vistas, this fabulous guesthouse offers a truly unique experience. As you step into the eclectic reception, you are treated to an extravaganza of the senses. All around are wonderful artifacts and items collected by owner Susan Smyth on her many travels. Oriental scent fills the air, bougainvillea petals float in from the courtyard and you are warmly greeted by manager and chef par excellence, Lauren Kotoglu.
Throughout your stay, you realize that the service is absolutely exceptional and that nothing is too much trouble for Lauren and her team. Making her guest’s stay memorable and enjoyable is her priority; she will happily set up a table on the beach for breakfast or put together a most tantalising afternoon tea in the garden, if guests request this, and her schedule permits.
Accommodation
The eight rooms at Whale View Manor are an exotic experience as each has been authentically decorated to reflect a different culture or location which is special to the owner. These include the opulence of India in the Shalimar Bedroom, the authentic Savoy atmosphere in the Megeve Bedroom (famous ski village in the French Alps), the rich textures of the Mandalay Bedroom celebrating the Burmese people, the South African Bedroom depicting the Zulu culture, the Nautical bedroom with stunning views of the sea, the Chiang Mai Bedroom where the soft gold and burgundy hues depict the personality of gentle Thailand, the Marrakesh Bedroom being the heartbeat of Morocco, and lastly the Maasai Bedroom where guests sleep under the warmth of an authentic shuka - the blood red shoulder cloak worn proudly by the tall, elegant men of the Maasai tribe.
Six of the rooms are sea-facing while two have beautiful garden and mountain views.
There is plenty of space for relaxation, from the lounge overlooking the sea, to the tranquil garden, walled courtyard and of course the secluded beach below.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant overlooking the sea and guests are treated to a different table setting from around the world each day! Lauren and her team will also happily provide dinner for guests, and once again the experience is a treat for all the senses.
Weddings and Functions
A conference room is available and used for both day and longer stay options. Whale View can accommodate 16 people comfortably for a conference, and the courtyard and separate lounge area is used for breakaways. Executive packages are available.
Intimate weddings and special occasions are well celebrated at Whale View Manor and the quirky surrounds truly enhance the function. Honeymoon packages are also offered and couples can look forward to arriving to find their room romantically strewn with rose petals amongst other special touches.
Activities and Attractions
For those needing pampering, a fabulous spa is very close by. Treatments include aromatherapy, reflexology and reiki.
There is plenty to do in the area with Cape Point just a short distance away, the penguins on Boulder Beach, historic Simon’s Town to explore, newly established Cape Point Vineyards and Cape Town only 30 minutes drive away. |
