ACCOMMODATION

Imagine waking up on your own award-winning wine farm, in your own historical Manor House dating back to 1688 and experience the perfect balance between historic charm and modern luxuries. Vrede en Lust is the ideal location for a breakaway in the winelands, as it's situated 15 minutes from Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch.

Vrede en Lust features luxurious accommodation for up to 22 guests in the Historic Manor House (five rooms) and the original Jonkmanshuis (six rooms with en-suite bath rooms). All of our accommodation delivers non-stop enjoyment and safety, as it is backed up by a permanent, industrial strength generator.

A stay on our farm is a unique experience that keeps our guests coming back. Our accommodation is located an arms length from the vineyards with large oak trees providing ample shade. From here one can walk run or cycle through the vineyards all the way to the top of the farm or up into the forests above for a breathtaking view of the region. Activities in the area include: top South African golf courses, top restaurants, spa's, wineries, hiking, mountain biking and breathtaking scenery.

WEDDINGS and SPECIAL EVENTS

With the Historic Manor House from 1688 and the original wine cellar, Vrede en Lust offers a truly authentic experience for weddings, lavish birthday parties, high profile product launches, conferences and corporate events. The Vineyard Terrace offers spectacular views over the vineyard and the Simonsberg.

Historic Cellar and Vineyard Terrace
In 2007 we built the new Vineyard Terrace in front of the Historic Cellar. The Terrace is a 250sqm deck covered by a modern Tension Structure twin-top tent-like roof. Set right next to a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard and with a large lawn area, the new Terrace has become the most desirable function venue in the Cape Winelands. The views from the Terrace to the Simonsberg and Groot Drakenstein mountains, across seas of vines, are truly breathtaking.

The venue caters for up to 140 people seated or up to 200 people for cocktail functions. A see-through tent wall, with waterproof lining is available in case poor weather threatens your function. A 6.5m long bar counter is built in with under-counter fridges and serving area.

The lovely 322 year old Historic Cellar can accommodate up to 120 people with a dance floor. The historic cellar had once been used to house barrels of wine in the past and is now our most popular function space as it is perfect for all seasons. In the winter time, underfloor heating keeps guests comfortable and in the spring and summer the cellar naturally keeps cool. It may be a great place to party: have the music and lounge area inside and keep the conversation and festivities going on the Terrace!

The doors open onto the Terrace. Spectacular views of the Simonsberg and Groot Drakenstein mountains can be seen from this venue. The Historic Cellar is multi functional, able to accommodate the ceremony or reception with its unique horizontal structure.

There are a number of garden locations to choose from for a wedding ceremony, plus inside the Historic Cellar in the event of weather risk. Secure parking for nearly 100 vehicles is available right next to the venue.

Conferences

We have an ideal venue for conferences and high end product launches. Our conferencing facility seats up to 70 delegates (classroom style) and opens onto the Vineyard Terrace that overlooks hectares of vineyards and the spectacular surrounding Simonsberg and Groot Drakenstein Mountains. This background adds a sense of warmth and polish to every function, large or small.

You can tailor your conference with or without accommodation. We supply all the necessary equipment:

• 10 x 7.5’ Framed Front Projection screen
• XGA Projector – 2000 Ansi Lumen
• Flipchart and pens
• Table set-up in boardroom style with peppermints, water and juice
• Tea, coffee and snacks are also included and are tailored depending on the package of your choice
