It lies on a lagoon at the small mouth - hence the name meaning “little river mouth“ - of the Bot River, on a narrow strip of land, hugged on one side by the Kogelberg mountain range and on the other side by the Atlantic Ocean. It is also a very peaceful little village, endowed with some of the coast’s most natural beauty. It lies within the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve which supports over 1600 species of fynbos of which numerous are endemic. Let us spoil you at Villachad in an oasis of luxurious “Balafrican” grace. DIRECTIONS: from Cape Town Take the N2 from Cape Town towards George. ( 45km from Somerset West to Botriver) Pass over Sir Lowry`s Pass. Drive straight. After about +- 20 minutes (you will pass Grabouw) you will pass over the Houw Hoek Pass. As you come down this pass Botriver will be on you Left hand side and shortly after you will see a turn off to Hermanus R43 to your left. - Take this off Ramp Carry along straight along the R43 towards Hermanus. Take the turn off right towards Kleinmond. (15 km from turn-off to Kleinmond) Drive thru Kleinmond, You will pass 3 four-way stops at the 3rd make a right turn towards the mountain. Villachad will be on the corner of the 2nd Stop sign. (63 ,six street). from Franschoek From Franschoek take the R45 towards Villiersdorp (24km). You will reach the Theewaterskloof Dam. OPTION 1: Turn Left and drive VIA Villersdorp. Then take the R43 towards Botriver. (You will turn onto the N2 for a short while) Take the R43 Hermanus - as *above from Cape Town. OPTION 2: Turn right onto the R 321 towards Grabouw. You will reach a stop street. Turn Left Towards Hermanus. You will pass over the Houw Hoek Pass. As you come down this pass Botriver will be on you Left hand side and shortly after you will see a turn off to Hermanus R43 to your left. See *Directions from Cape Town| from Knysna Take the N2 in the direction of Cape Town. When you reach Caledon you will travel for another 30min before taking the R43 turn-off to Hermanus. Take this off Ramp Carry along straight along the R43 towards Hermanus. Take the turn off right towards Kleinmond. (15 km from turn-off to Kleinmond) Drive thru Kleinmond, You will pass 3 four-way stops at the 3rd make a right turn towards the mountain. Villachad will be on the corner of the 2nd Stop sign.
