The Dutch name “Zeezicht” means “Seaview” and it reflects the revivalist Cape Dutch architecture of the house with its beautiful gables. This gracious villa in Upper Gardens, on the slopes of Table Mountain, has splendid views of Table Bay and the mountains from all the rooms. The villa is surrounded by an attractive garden with much indigenous flora, giving a year-round floral display and with tropical and citrus fruit trees such as papaya , guava, orange and mandarin. DIRECTIONS: Locate the 5-star Mount Nelson Hotel in Orange Street at the southern end of the Company Gardens (exiting at Government Avenue). One building (a brick church) from the entrance to the hotel, is Hof Street. Drive about 200 metres up Hof Street in the direction of Table Mountain. The Cape Town Medi-Clinic will be on your left side. Immediately after the clinic, there is a fork in the road. The road to the left is Buxton Avenue. Villa Zeezicht is the last house on the right-hand side, 54 Buxton Avenue (corner of Glen Crescent). |
