Attractions & Activities


The famous Grotto blue flag beach is a mere 5 minutes walk. The hiking trials and the mountain at the backdoor. A host of adventure activities like sea kayaking, paragliding, shark diving, whale watching and many more are available in the area and can be arranged by your hosts.

Hermanus is known as the heart of the whale route. The popular cliff path stretches from the one side of the town to the other, about 12 km. An excellent walk and place for whale watchers to study and enjoy these amazing gigantic mammals and get within closer range than you can dream of.

Telescopes situated alongside the Old Harbour Museum makes it possible to survey the entire Walker Bay and the whales and dolphins at close range. The Whale Crier keeps visitors informed as to the whereabouts of the whales. The sound of his kelp horn has become a well loved and awaited sound during the whale season.

DIRECTIONS:

If you travel at a general speed of 120 km/h - Villa blu is 1 hour's drive from the Cape Town Airport.

Take the N2 from Cape Town towards George (45km from Somerset West to Botriver). Pass over Sir Lowry`s Pass. Drive straight. After about +/- 20 minutes (you will pass Grabouw) you will pass over the Houw Hoek Pass. As you come down this pass, Botriver will be on your left hand side and shortly after you will see a turn off to Hermanus R43 to your left. Take this off ramp. Carry along straight along the R43 Hermanus 31km to Hermanus. You will pass the Kleinmond turn. Pass Fisherhaven, Hawston, Vermont, Onrus and Sandbaai. After the Sandbaai / Hemel en Aarde traffic lights you will pass through two more sets of lights to find yourself in the centre of Hermanus. Continue along the main road all the way through the centre of Hermanus, pass the Golf Course on your left. You will go halfway around the traffic circle and continue for another kilometre. Pass the Grotto Beach sign at 10th Ave, the next road which crosses the main road is 13th Ave. You will see Villa Blu on your right, but turn right into 13th Ave and immediately right again to find Villa Blu at number 234 8th Street.
