DESCRIPTION:
Tulbagh is located in one of the most scenic valleys of the Cape Winelands, surrounded by majestic mountains, snow capped in winter. Famous for its Cape Dutch architecture, the town features 27 National Monuments in one street alone, and the Tulbagh Hotel is fortunate to incorporate two of these properties as heritage annexes to the main building, which was itself founded in 1859.
Accommodation
The hotel has a total of nine rooms, three of which are located in our heritage manor house, directly opposite the hotel. The heritage rooms are named after the founding fathers of the town and the Western Cape. Each en suite room has been individually designed to offer an eclectic mix of old world charm and contemporary luxuries. The Pieter Potter room is our honeymoon suite and features a four poster bed.
The six rooms in the main hotel include three Luxury rooms, all featuring king size beds and en suite bathrooms with bath and separate shower. Our comfortable Standard rooms have queen size beds with en suite bath or shower.
Facilities
The open fireplaces in the main bar and the cigar lounge provide a refuge from the cold when the snow is lying on the mountains. The restaurant is open to residents and non residents; choose to dine in the restaurant or alfresco on the stoep/patio watching the world go by or in the secluded courtyard, which also features a spit braai / BBQ.
A swimming pool and sunbathing area will be completed by November 2009, for a cooling dip after an exhausting day at the vineyards.
Weddings and Conferencing
Tulbagh is a popular wedding destination and we are able to offer a venue including the historic 1813 church and a reception area combining one of the heritage cottages, an illuminated terrace and garden with a variety of trees running down to a stream.
The hotel has facilities for small residential or day conferences.
Children are welcome and we also have a wheel chair accessible en suite room.
