The golden valley is home to soft fruit, citrus, vineyards an rooibos farmers. The village is the ideal place to centre yourself to explore the West Coast, Cederberg Wilderness area and the Namaqualand during spring when the wild flowers are blossoming. The cottage is also covered in wild flowers during this time of year. The CottageThe Riverhole Wilderness Cottage is a completely private self catering cottage which is situated 6km outside Citrusdal on a citrus and rooibos farm which is nestled next to a river totally private for your use only in the Cederberg Wilderness Mountains. The Cottage which is next to a mountain river and surrounded with fynbos, Proteas, butter trees, and wild flowers during spring, has an outside braai area which overlooks the river valley. The cottage is very peaceful and private. It is situated 200m from a gravel road that ends 500m further on at the last farm on the road - Boschkloof, there for the only sounds to experience is the flowing river, birds and the silence of nature. Enjoy bathing in a hot outside bath, swimming in the river, bird watching, mountain biking on the farm roads and trails, rock climbing on the surrounding sand stone formation rocks and hiking, or just relax in a hammock and enjoy the sounds of nature. Or you can drive into town and enjoy round of golf, squash, tennis or dine at the Hotel or our famous steak house – Patrick’s “a cut above the rest”. AccommodationThe cottage can accommodate 6 guests, has 2 rooms, each with a double bed, and 2 single beds in the living room. The cottage has an inside and outside barbeque area with barbeque grid and bundles of wood. More wood should be ordered from Kobus before arrival and a shopping list is available where food and other goodies can be ordered (delivery cost per order is added to bill). A fully equipped kitchen with whiskey, wine and beer glasses, 100% cotton bedding, and towels. The cottage also has a small herb garden for your cooking needs. A Cobb, Gas stove/fridge, gas shower, gas oven, romantic lamps and candles make up for electricity to experience a more farm style living. A feature that also compliments the cottage is that there is no cell phone reception at the cottage and no television. ExtrasElectricity can be added with a generator at an additional cost, and Jacuzzi at an additional cost. This option must be booked well in advanced and will only be organized if minimum of 2 days are booked. Well disciplined small dogs allowed. Sorry no scramblers. No fires in undesignated spots. DIRECTIONS: Arriving from the N7 into Citrusdal, turn left at first 4 way stop street, carry on till you reach the 3rd road that you can turn right into (Muller street) go up the hill till you drive out of town on to a gravel road. Do not turn left or right. Carry on the gravel road for +/- 6km where you will see the turn off to River hole wilderness cottage on the left side. |
