DESCRIPTION:

The majestic Slanghoek - Hawequa mountain range form the backdrop to Oude Wellington Wine and Brandy Estate in the middle of the Cape Winelands.

Look forward to a picturesque historical Cape Dutch Farm of 1790 with thick white-washed walls and gables in its own valley along a small river. The red brick road through vineyards leads you to rolling lawns and white buildings.

All attractions, including the Two Oceans, Cape Town, Wale watching and Table Mountain are just an hours drive away. Many locals commute daily to Cape Town, because of Wellington's safe and central situation in the Winelands.

Accommodation

Guesthouse
Each of our 7 guestrooms has its own private entrance and is individually decorated with epoch antiques and modern comforts. Some rooms have queen-size beds, others have twin beds. Each room has air-conditioning, under-floor heating, DVD, TV (including one German program), wine fridge with a selection of wines and water, private telephone, hairdryer, Stereo, WiFi, alarm-clock, a small safe for your valuables and real filter coffee in your room. Disabled guests can be accommodated in an especially comfortable room at ground level.

Self-catering Cottage
Our self-catering cottage (breakfast is still available) is best suited for two adults and a child but has an additional fold-out bed as well. The cottage with in and outdoor braai (barbeque) and kitchenette (equipped with cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, hot pan, kettle, microwave) is fully serviced.

Honeymoon suite
A real gem is the honeymoon suite in the old slave quarters. This is a free standing thatched cottage with a large thatched veranda and views over the mountains, vineyards and garden. A has a romantic four poster bed and a big French marble fireplace in the sitting room. Like all other guest rooms it is fully equipped except for a TV.

Restaurant

Our very cosy country restaurant combines the culinary inspirations of our Dutch chef John Tecklenburg with classic European and Indonesian cuisine. Enjoy daily changing specials, soups and deserts. We are proud of being popular with the locals. Be seated under shady Oak trees or inside the distilling cellar with big barrels and cosy fireplaces not only in winter. A smoking section is available.

Wine and Brandy

We manufacture handcrafted red / white wines, grappa and brandy. The entire production from growing grapes, hand-picking at harvest time to bottling and labelling all happens on the estate. We even print our labels on site and can create your own unique label as a very memorable souvenir. Wine tasting and cellar tours can be arranged when possible.

What to do

On the farm you can play Petanque, a game of Billiard/Snooker, board games, boccia, or dip in the swimming pool, book a horseback riding or a wine tasting. Take out a book from our selection or watch a DVD. In season you can watch grapes turn into wine.

Animals

We also breed white Alpacas, one of the cuddliest, friendly animals you can imagine. If you are patient they will come to you for a hug when called. Our two naughty dogs Juliet and son Balu sleep and snore about 26 hours a day at the fireplace but will love to accompany you on a walk to the dam.

Who are we?

We are a German-South African couple with a passion for wine and dine. There is always something cooking at Oude Wellington.
