Lodge Accommodation


LAGOON LODGE:
For the ultimate private getaway, the Lagoon Lodge captures the essence of tranquility with just 5 safari style suites hidden amongst ancient milkwood trees on the edge of the Hermanus Lagoon. Stone and glass walls open onto private decks for spectacular mountain views and soft bedding lies under romantic netting. Each room has a bathtub large enough for 2 and a private outdoor shower for an African bush experience.

Boardwalks under a canopy of trees lead to the lounge, bar and dining area. Dinners are served either indoors, outdoors under trees or under the stars in our traditional boma. A heated plunge pool overlooking the mountains is a favorite place to spot your favorite birds.

Your stay includes: a delicious breakfast, 3-course dinner, welcome drink, morning nature walk and sundown excursion. The cuisine at Mosaic is fresh, delicious and the creative mastery of our chef, our baker, our gardener, and local producers. Breakfast is a hearty fare with freshly baked muffins, homemade jams, fresh fruit and a hot meal. Sumptuous dinners are prepared by our chef and built around organic vegetables from our garden and local seasonal ingredients…and best paired with fine South African wine from our cellar!

SELF-CATERING COTTAGE ACCOMMODATION


Surrounded by Milkwood trees, fynbos gardens and abundant birdlife, four lovely cottages on the Hermanus Lagoon are available for self-catering and serviced daily. Delicious breakfast baskets, gourmet picnics, braai platters, organic produce and home made goodies are available from the 1892 Spookhuis Café’ next door. Exciting activities can also be booked: quad biking, boat cruises w/ picnics, beach excursions, kayaking, guided nature walks.

DUMINY COTTAGE: Sleeps 9
This spacious house is perfect for families, featuring a double volume living/dining area with glass doors that open onto two large porches and an upper deck with panoramic mountain and lagoon views.

Bedroom 1: King bed, bathtub, out door shower, glass doors open onto porch.
Bedroom 2: Twin beds, shower (wheel chair accessible), glass doors open onto porch.
Loft: 5 twin beds, glass doors open onto upper deck, separate bath with shower.
Amenities: Cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, luxury bedding, towels, under floor heating, wood burning stove, out door BBQ and firewood.

MILKWOOD COTTAGE 1: Sleeps 2 + 1
Also built of limestone from Mosaic, this cottage is perfect for one couple and has a sofa bed for one child. The one room unit has glass doors that open onto magnificent mountain views, a patio, kitchen and outdoor BBQ. The bathroom has a separate tub and shower.

Amenities: Cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, luxury bedding, towels, out door BBQ and firewood.

MILKWOOD COTTAGE 2: Sleeps 4 + 2
Also built of limestone from Mosaic, this 2-bedroom cottage is perfect for two couples or families. A large porch overlooks beautiful fynbos gardens with fantastic birdlife. The open living/dining/kitchen area features a beautiful stone and mosaic fireplace.

Bedroom 1: King bed or 2 singles, sofa bed, shower over tub, glass doors open onto porch.
Bedroom 2: King bed or 2 singles, 1 additional single bed, shower (wheelchair accessible).
Amenities: Cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, luxury bedding, towels, fireplace, out door BBQ and firewood.

MILKWOOD COTTAGE 3: Sleeps 4 + 4
Also built of limestone from Mosaic, this 2-bedroom cottage is perfect for two couples or families. Glass doors from the living room, master bedroom and kitchen open onto outdoor porches and an ancient milkwood grove. The double volume living room has a fireplace and the kitchen an indoor BBQ.

Bedroom 1: King bed or 2 singles, bathtub, glass doors open onto porch.
Bedroom 2: Queen bed, trundle bed (sleeps 2), bathtub, shower.
Living room: 2 sofa beds.

FOOD & WINE


1892 SPOOKHUIS
Completely built of stacked limestone blocks in 1892, the Spookhuis is a local landmark and legend in South African history. It is the home to our daytime cafe' on the water, and a magnificent venue and setting for weddings, family events and conferences. Gourmet picnics, cheese and mezze platters and home made goodies can be enjoyed on the water’s edge or around roaring fires if there is a chill in the air. Delicious South African wine can be selected from our cellar.

DIRECTIONS:

From Cape Town and Airport
Take the N2 past the airport to Somerset West.
Option 1: Take the R44 South, along the coast and turn onto the R43 to Hermanus.
Option 2: Follow the N2 over Sir Lowry's Pass and Houwhoek Pass and turn onto the R43 to Hermanus
Drive through Hermanus to Stanford and turn right onto Queen Victoria Street. Drive 0.9 km and turn left onto Moore Street. Drive 0.4 km to the stop sign. Continue straight through this intersection onto the dirt road for 9.8 km to the Mosaic Farm Reception (Note: once you reach the end of the horse paddock, the road to Mosaic splits to the right).

From the Garden Route:
Follow the N2, 10 km past Riviersonderend and take the R326 to Stanford. At the stop sign at Stanford, continue straight through this intersection onto Queen Victoria Street. Drive 0.9 km and turn left onto Moore Street. Drive 0.4 km to the stop sign. Continue straight through this intersection onto the dirt road for 9.8 km to the Mosaic Farm Reception (Note: once you reach the end of the horse paddock, the road to Mosaic splits to the right).
