The village has become one of the top destinations for visitors travelling to South Africa and upon your first visit you will understand why; the entire valley, not just the village itself, is breathtaking. Les Chambres Guest House, a charming old Victorian house that has been lovingly restored, is situated in the heart of the village and offers luxurious accommodation and personal service. Although located within easy walking distance of the main road, where a treasure trove of restaurants, street cafes, galleries and boutique shops are to be found, the ambience is one of tranquility and calm. Each room is individually decorated in an eclectic mix of antique and contemporary, and has its own private entrance. BREAKFASTBreakfast like a king with fresh fruits, homemade cereals and preserves, freshly baked bread, croissants and a selection of cheeses. A wholesome cooked breakfast is always on offer as well as our tempting specials which change on a daily basis. In the colder months the dining room is filled with the sounds of a wood fire, while in the summer months the French doors lead out onto the patio where breakfast is served al fresco, alongside the fish pond. Open a bottle of your favourite wine from one of the local cellars and simply enjoy the afternoon. At 9 m long, the heated pool is perfect for a few laps before breakfast. DIRECTIONS: From Cape Town International Airport Keep to the left hand lane as you exit the airport. Immediately past the petrol station take the Borcherd’s Quarry exit. This road curves sharply to the left. Continue on this left-hand bend and turn left onto the M22 (Borcherd’s Quarry Rd.). At traffic lights (after ± 1.5km) there is a major intersection. Turn right onto M10. Continue for approximately 2km to the next major junction. Turn right onto M12 (signposted for Stellenbosch & R300). This road continues for about 5km until you reach a junction with the R300. Turn left onto the on-ramp. No need to turn off this road, as after approximately 10km the road turns to the right and joins the N1. Continue on the N1 and take exit 47 to Stellenbosch/Klapmuts/Wellington. At the end of the off-ramp, turn right. After ± 700m you reach a 4-way stop. Go straight across. Approximately 300m on, turn left to Franschhoek. This road is approximately 10km long and eventually comes to a T-junction. Turn right at T-junction. This is a straight road into Franschhoek (± 20km). Within Franschhoek The R45 becomes the main road (Huguenot Street) through the village and ends at the monument. Turn left into Berg Street (this is the last road before the monument). At the stop sign go straight across. After approximately 20m turn right into our parking area. Les Chambres is located on the corner of Berg Street and Akademie Street. |
