This elegant and chic 4-star country house is a haven of peace and tranquility, nestled amongst farms and vineyards, yet within walking distance of the village with all its fabulous shops and restaurants. AccommodationWe have six rooms at La Cabriere. The three most luxurious ‘deluxe’ rooms are in our detached poolside cottage. Each of these rooms has its own open fireplace for those chillier evenings, an individual terrace overlooking the swimming pool, and spectacular views across the vineyards to the mountains beyond. The two charming Superior rooms are adjacent to the main house, and are a short stroll away from the poolside cottage, the breakfast terrace and the pool. One of these rooms has a king or twin- bed option. Both have their own entrances, terrace, and mountain views. The Standard room is also adjacent to the main house, it is the largest room, but is offered at a lower price due to the fact that there is no view from the bedroom itself. The bed can be made up as king or twin. This room is ideal for families travelling with young children, as it is large enough to fit the cot or extra bed when required. BreakfastBreakfasts include a selection of cereals, fresh fruit salads, yoghurts and croissants, as well as a full English breakfast (served between 8 & 10am). Afternoon tea and cake is served every day. This can be enjoyed on the veranda outside your room as the hot summer day comes to an end, or curled up in your bedroom in front of the fire on one of those chillier winter evenings. Services & FacilitiesThe team at La Cabriere Country House is made up of friendly and approachable staff who are always very happy to advise you on restaurants, wine tours, spa treatments and the many sporting activities available in and around Franschhoek. Recent exciting changes have been made to the exterior of the country house. The field in front of the guest house has been landscaped with a ‘forest’ of mature trees, and we have created a 40 metre dam which is sure to attract some beautiful birdlife for La Cabriere visitors to enjoy. DIRECTIONS: From Cape Town Take The N1 direction Paarl. Turn off at Junction 47, (the R44 and the second exit to Stellenbosch). Turn right - under the motorway and across the R101. Cross the railway, and then take the next left, the R45 to Franschhoek, just past a blue and white building called Tahiera’s Superette. Follow this road until you reach a T junction just after crossing the railway again. Turn right for Franschhoek, and keep straight on up the valley for about 20kms until you arrive in the village. Carry on up the main street past the shops and restaurants until you come to a T junction in front of the Huguenot Monument. Turn right, and then first left up Middagkrans Road (a gravel road which turns to tarmac). La Cabrière Country House is the first property on the left, set back behind a stand of vines, and accessed up Park Lane. The property is signposted from the Monument. From the Airport Take the N2 motorway direction Somerset West. Turn left onto the R300 link road and follow it right through until it joins the N1, direction Paarl. Then follow the directions above. From Paarl / Worcester Take the N1 direction Cape Town, exit for Franschhoek and follow the R45 to the village. Then follow the directions as above. From George / Hermanus Take the N2 direction Cape Town as far as Grabouw. Turn right direction Villiersdorp. Follow this road until you have crossed the reservoir on a new bridge. Turn left immediately on leaving the bridge, direction Franschhoek. Carry on over the pass and down the other side. As you come down into the village you will have the Huguenot Monument on your left, and have right of way through a T junction. Take the next turning on your left (Middagkrans Road) and you will find the property on your left, as above. |
