DESCRIPTION:
Glen Cottage, aptly called the cutest self-catering cottage in the Cape, is less than a minutes’ drive from the beach - a delightful, fully renovated and immaculate fisherman-style cottage, with sparkling swimming pool, built-in barbeque and shady gazebo. It offers relaxed and comfortable seaside holidays for up to 6 guests with all the comforts of home and more.
THE COTTAGE
The 3-star accommodation comprises comfortable sitting and dining room areas open-plan to a well equipped, fully fitted kitchen; two double bedrooms (one with bunks), two bathrooms, and two further single beds behind private timber and wrought-iron screens on the enclosed verandah. There’s also a cot for the baby and a high chair, too. The cottage sleeps six, but the kitchen caters for eight.
Facilities include washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, TV with DSTV and a radio/CD/tape player. The small, enclosed and private garden is charming and has a sparkling pool with safety net if required, shady gazebo with table and benches for al fresco dining, sun-loungers, sun umbrella, and built-in barbeque. There’s a remote-operated single garage and off-street parking. Beach chairs and an umbrella that you can take to the beach are provided to complete your lazy, hazy, sunshine, surf-side enjoyment.
Everybody who has stayed here loves this little cottage. It’s less than a minutes’ drive from wild and wonderful Kommetjie Longbeach, a world famous surfing venue, and also close to a small river that you can walk down to get there – in just 5 minutes. By day it’s a sheltered, restful haven in a beautiful and mellow setting, and at night the sea is sometimes so loud it’s as if you’re sleeping in the dunes.

LOCATION
Kommetjie is a typical, quaint and characterful West Coast seaside village. Naturally, the beach and beach activities are the primary focus of this wonderful, sleepy undiscovered gem that, nevertheless, has all necessary facilities close at hand. It was laid out a century ago amongst the coastal milkwoods surrounding Die Kom (a large protected natural rocky sea basin) but today the village has extended northwards towards magnificent Longbeach and the wreck of the Kakapo.
It lies just 10 minutes from Cape Point Nature Reserve, 45 minutes south of Cape Town and the Waterfront and 60 mins from Cape Town International Airport. It has several excellent restaurants including Fisherman’s, renowned for its scrumptious seafood. Local activities include the beach, beach horse-riding, cray-fishing by boat, surfing and boarding, kayaking, scuba diving, bird watching, deep-sea fishing, hiking and whale watching. Picturesque Clovelly and Steenberg golf courses, the Constantia Wine Route and numerous characterful and delicious Kalk Bay and Simonstown restaurants are all under 20 mins away. Table Mountain, World of Birds, Kirstenbosch Gardens and the Waterfront are just a little further.

DIRECTIONS:
From the airport take the N2 towards Cape Town until you reach the mountain and then bear left onto the M3, towards Muizenberg. Continue straight until you can go no further without turning left or right at traffic lights. Turn right here onto Steenberg Road towards Tokai and Noordhoek. After a further set of lights take the left filter onto Ou Kaapse Weg, a stunning drive over the mountain. Come down the other side of the mountain and go straight through the next set of lights (unless you wish to detour to Longbeach Mall [Pick and Pay] for some supplies) to the major four-way traffic light at the far side of the valley, where left goes to Fish Hoek, straight to Simon's Town, and right to Kommetjie. Turn right to Kommetjie, a seven-minute drive away. After you pass the Kommetjie signboard take first right into Wireless Road and then, after some green belt, first right again into Riverside Drive. Glen Cottage is number 22.
