DESCRIPTION:
Eensgevonden is a working wine farm in a stunningly beautiful position. 360 degree views stretch across the great expanse of the Breede River Valley and the magnificent mountains that surround it. The farmstead - a National Monument - the oldest farmhouse in the Valley, dates back to the 1720s. Friendly hosts will give you a warm welcome and happily show you around their farm and vineyards.
The farm includes 400ha of mountain Nature Reserve with scenic hiking trails through the fynbos. A 5 minute walk from the cottages is a gorgeous secluded mountain swimming pool. An hour from Cape Town, Eensgevonden is in one of the largest wine producing areas in South Africa. Over 20 wine cellars within a 15 km radius all offer free tasting of the excellent wines.
Accommodation
Guest Cottages
Three white-washed Cape cottages can sleep up to 10 guests.
Two 2-bedroomed (queen and 2 singles) and one 1-bedroomed cottage (one queen) - each with separate bathrooms with showers/bath. The cottages are set against the mountains in a large indigenous garden, each with its own private braai/BBQ area.
They are bright and airy, with big double doors opening onto large stoeps/verandas. A great spot for evening sundowners! They are fully equipped for self catering - fridge, stove, microwave etc. and Breakfast in a Basket can be delivered on request. The cottages are cool in Summer and have cosy fireplaces in Winter, when the surrounding mountains are snow-capped.
Crisp, white cotton sheets and feather duvets! No TVs or radios! Just the peaceful sound of the birds and owls! Wireless internet access is available for those who are unable to travel without their laptop!
For a quiet getaway, this is where you want to be!
