DESCRIPTION:
Dieu Donné means "God Given". Once you've experienced the spirituality, natural beauty and unparalleled views and vistas around us, you will understand why.
Dieu Donné – dating back to 1855 - is a delightful haven of peace and tranquility in the most beautiful valley in South Africa: the picturesque and world renowned wine producing enclave of Franschhoek. We operate a small and intimate family run guest house where personal attention to our clients and their needs are of utmost importance. We pride ourselves on warm welcomes and personal service - we do it all with country hospitality rivaled nowhere. We are just four minutes from the historic Franschhoek village, flanked by the sensational Huguenot and Franschhoek mountains. Excite your visual senses by the sheer breathtaking power and glory of the mountains in front of us.
ACCOMMODATION
We have three free standing cottages comprising 4 bedrooms, as well as another two cottages comprising two bedrooms each with separate private entrances. Each of our bedrooms has its own individual, unique character with different colour schemes – all natural and rustic with huge showers, pure cotton bed linen, private entrances, covered private patios and views forever. With numerous water features and two dams, a swimming pool and hot tub (jacuzzi) on the farm, the calming and tranquilizing effect of water will soon work its magic.
Room Descriptions
English Room
The English room with its private entrance is decorated in the classic English style; it has an original, framed embroidered work of art dating back to the late 1800’s, its own private balcony with exceptional views and is set amongst 300+ year old oak trees. It has a king sized bed with pure cotton bed linen, air conditioning and ceiling fan, tea tray, radio/CD player, fridge, digital safe and the en-suite bathroom has a large shower.
African Room
The African room is styled in traditional African colours and designs in rock art. It also has its own private entrance with balcony and breathtaking views. It has 2 twin beds (that can be converted to a king size bed), pure cotton linen, air conditioning with ceiling fan, tea tray, radio/CD player, fridge, digital safe and the en suite bathroom has a large shower.
Somali Room
Somali Room’s colours are from Mother Nature mixed with the textures of sand dunes, creating the feeling of wide open spaces like you would only find on African soil. It has a king size bed – which can be converted into two twins – both options with pure cotton bed linen and the en-suite bathroom has an enormous shower. In the room you will find air conditioning, a ceiling fan, tea tray, radio/CD player, safe and hair dryer. The covered patio with fridge and comfortable outdoor furniture entices you to spend time outdoors with a drink in hand. Views are magnificent.
Mandela Room
Mandela Room is a tribute to The Greatest Man to walk this earth. Traditional African beadwork and the indigenous Nguni Cow are symbols of the Xosa Tribe, of which Nelson Mandela is a member, and are represented in this room. This very special room has a king size four poster bed, pure cotton linen, air conditioning, ceiling fan, tea tray, fridge, radio/CD player, safe and hair dryer. The en-suite bathroom has a beautiful big shower. The covered patio is shaded by Oak trees of a couple of hundred years old and the view is like “The Great Man” himself.
Forest Room
Forest is an open plan cottage on the slope of our mountain with awesome views from the covered balcony. It is not self catering. It is fully air conditioned plus a ceiling fan, has a fire place, two single beds with pure cotton bed linen, tea tray, fridge, radio/CD player, digital safe and an open plan bathroom with huge shower.
Pine Room
Pine is also an open plan cottage and is exactly the same as Forest Room but with a different colour scheme - all in white. Unbelievable views from the covered balcony. It is a spacious open plan room with enormous shower. For your comfort there is a queen size bed with pure cotton linen, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, fridge, tea tray, radio/CD player, fire place and digital safe.
Squirrel Cottage
Squirrel cottage is on the edge of our private forest & has some of the best views on the farm – truly magical. It has two bedrooms - the main bedroom downstairs has a queen size bed and the en-suite bathroom has a bath as well as a shower. In the loft is a single bed. Both bedrooms have fans and the linen is of pure cotton. In the spacious lounge is a fire place, air conditioning, tea tray, fridge, radio/CD player & digital safe. The covered patio with comfortable outdoor furniture is the place to be - try to see how much of this awesome beauty you can absorb...
