Clifton is a diamond among all the jewellery that Cape Town offers. While you relax, soak up the sun and gaze across the crystal waters, it is hard to believe that you are just minutes away from the centre of a major cosmopolitan city. The beach-house area of Clifton's Fourth Beach has a long and gracious history. The architecture of the area is governed by the South African Heritage Resources Agency in order to maintain its atmosphere of a quiet seaside retreat. ACCOMMODATIONChristine's Beach Cottage is one of these exclusive private houses and offers you self-catering accommodation for an unforgettable holiday. It has a convenient and attractive split-level design. The lower level holiday apartment (accommodating 4 people) is available for rent from February to November, while the whole house (accommodating 6 people) is available over December and January. The lower level of the cottage is an apartment with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite) and an open-plan kitchen and living area. It is amply equipped with a stove, oven, crockery, cutlery, utensils and appliances without being cluttered, and has a TV, a DVD player and a Hi-Fi. Both bedrooms have direct access out to the protected sitting area which is perfectly positioned to catch the morning sun for an outdoor breakfast, or to read a book in the afternoon shade of the trees. The sitting area is equipped with a gas barbecue and has views over beach-houses and out to sea. The upper level sleeps 2 more people. It has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, separate WC, open-plan kitchen, living area, lounge and a large entertainment deck. LOCATIONChristine's Beach Cottage is set amongst leafy indigenous vegetation and fruit trees, and has beautiful views of yachts in the bay through shady trees with a panorama from the sea up to the summit of Lion's Head Mountain behind. Access to the beach is down a shady flight of steps to the sand and with a privacy that sets it apart from the crowds. The building is north-facing to capture the winter sun, and is sited above the light mist that lingers on the beach on some evenings. Being near to the road makes it convenient for carrying luggage and shopping, yet it is protected from traffic noise. Children and Accessibility Issues: Please note that the cottage cannot be considered "child safe" and is therefore not suitable for small children (1-6 years old). We would also like to advise people who have difficulty with stairs that, although it is one of the most accessible houses in the area, there are nevertheless some stairs to negotiate.
