DESCRIPTION:
Cheriton Guest House offers cosy accommodation with warm, friendly service in a century old home overlooking False Bay and the historic naval town of Simon’s Town. The well preserved, elegant Victorian house dates back to 1898.
Set against the mountain in the quiet suburb of Seaforth, porcupine are frequent nocturnal visitors and guinea fowl roost in the surrounding trees. We are within easy walking distance of the penguins at Boulders, Seaforth Beach, restaurants and all the conveniences of the town.
The strong maritime theme throughout Cheriton is particularly noticeable in the ‘Just Nuisance’ pub. This honesty bar which is packed with naval artifacts is for the exclusive use of our guests. Attached to it is a room called the 'snug' which is stocked with various collections and board games for chilly winter evenings. Internet facilities are available with WIFI hot spots in the house and some rooms.
Accommodation
All 6 rooms have showers-en-suite and are equipped with under floor heating, fridges, safes, TV’s, DVD players, sherry, homemade biscuits and hospitality trays. We have an extensive collection of DVD’s which are free to our guests.
Outeniqua Room
The ‘Outeniqua’ is a family room in the garden with a queen bed and double bunks in an annex with an interleading door.
Transvaal Room
The ‘Transvaal’ is near the braai area, has twin beds and a small kitchenette.
Emily Hobhouse Room
The ‘Emily Hobhouse’ leads off the pub. It is a favourite with guests who know it and call it the room with a pub-en-suite.
Protea & Drakensburg Rooms
The ‘Protea’ and the ‘Drakensburg’ have twin beds.
Simon van der Stel Room
The ‘Simon van der Stel’ has a four poster double bed.
Breakfast
Breakfast is full English with yoghurt, fresh fruit and a choice of cereals. In winter, we serve in the dining room with a roaring fire and in summer on the breakfast deck or balcony with stunning views of the mountain and sea.
Additional Facilities
The deck has a telescope and binoculars for viewing whales, dolphins, kayaks, naval vessels plus all the other activities that take place in the bay.
We speak English, German, Dutch and Afrikaans.
