Scarborough is ideal for outdoor lovers to enjoy kite-flying, horse riding, cycling, hiking (and strolling). You have the choice of both secluded mountains and pristine beaches on your doorstep. The diverse flora, fauna, birdlife and wildlife can be appreciated from any angle - on foot, horseback, bicycle....or from your chair if you simply want to relax. In addition, Scarborough's beach-break is a world famous surf spot with the most consistent wind and waves in the country for surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing. ACCOMMODATION:Cape Point Lodge is comfortably furnished, rustic and unique in design. Bamboo floors and wooden windows framing picture-perfect views invite light and warmth into this homely accomodation. The lodge offers three double bed-rooms; a large open plan lounge dining area; an organic yellow wood and cedar kitchen fully equipped for self catering; and a reed-walled bathroom with Victorian bath. The main spacious bedroom on the upper level has a double bed and boasts a stunning sea view. Doors open out onto a wrap around balcony where you can enjoy your sunset sundowners. The second bedroom upstairs is cosy, sunny and light. It has a double bed and also opens out on to the balcony. Down the spiral staircase is the third bedroom - generous in size, comfortably cool, with two single beds, an irresistable couch, study area and a private bathroom with shower. There is a washing machine for your laundry. The wind sheltered sun deck is ideal for meals out of doors; and you can use the private indigenous garden for your barbeques. DIRECTIONS: From Cape Town, take the M3 towards Muizenberg. Turn right at the end, then left into Ou Kaapse weg, over the pass through the Silvermine Nature Reserve. You will pass through Sun Valley. Continue past Pick 'n Pay traffic lights to four way stop at the next set of traffic lights. Turn right into Kommetjie Road (M65) and follow road straight through towards Kommetjie to Scarborough as if you are going to Cape Point Nature Reserve. Before Kommetjie turn left after Ocean View. At stop street at the bottom of the hill, turn left again and drive 5km along the coastal road to Scarborough. Duiker Road is the last road on the right. Cape Point Lodge is no. 350, blue house on your right. Or Follow the M66/M65 Scarborough via Redhill from Simonstown. From this direction, Duiker road is the first road on your left as you drive into Scarborough. |
