Sunset Beach is a suburb lying to the north of central Cape Town along the Blaauwberg coast, famous for its views of Table Mountain, Signal Hill and Robben Island. The sandy, white Sunset Beach is legendary amongst wind and kite surfers and stretches northwards towards Blaauwberg Beach and Big Bay. Beaches in this area encompass a total length of 48 kilometres and, as its name would indicate, are privy to glorious sunsets. Other attractions include Robben Island (a World Heritage Site), the indigenous gardens at Kirstenbosch and the wine routes of Constantia and Durbanville, and no visit to Cape Town would be complete without visiting the mountain. Sunset Beach provides access to the diverse cultural heritage of the Cape West Coast - the historical towns of Atlantis and Mamre display fine examples of rock art from original Khoi inhabitants and restored missionary buildings. DIRECTIONS: From Cape Town International Airport: From the airport travel towards Cape Town on the N2 (west), turn North onto the N7, turn west onto N1. Take the Milnerton/Paarden Eiland off ramp and go north on Marine Drive/Otto du Plessis for about 7km. Turn left at the sign for Sunset Beach, this is Ocean way. Follow to the end and Atlantic Breeze is just in front of you. |
