Standing as a magnificent backdrop is the Helderberg Mountain, whose beauty provides a dramatic contrast to the lush greenery of surrounding vineyards. Asgard is nestled in a quiet area of Somerset West, close to all the amazing activities the Cape of Good Hope has to offer. The apartments offer magnificent views of the Mountain range, stunning winelands, as well as being in close proximity to the shopper's paradise of Somerset Mall, popular golf courses and the beautiful beaches of Strand and Gordon's Bay, all part of the warm Indian Ocean. AccommodationAsgard Apartments offers three fully equipped self-catering apartments with an optional scrumptious breakfast on request. All units have TV with decoder, fans, fridge, electronic safe, chic furniture and luxury linen with coffee and tea provided. There is a social balcony and a small pool, plus off-street parking. E-mail, internet, fax and copier facilities are available upon request only. Fountain Apartment: This is an open-plan apartment with a private entrance, modernised en suite bath and separate shower and a comprehensively equipped, stylish kitchenette. The melodic sound of rushing water provides a bedtime lullaby, while the majestic splendour of the mountains affords a pleasurable daytime view. View Apartment: An open-plan apartment with private entrance, an en suite bath with separate shower and fully equipped modern kitchenette. A romantic view of False Bay allows for many an idle moment gazing reflectively at its serene waters. Pool Apartment: This apartment is spacious and wonderfully cool in summer. It is an open-plan fully-equipped flat with a private entrance. It has a separate bedroom as well as an additional sleeper couch, a big en suite bathroom with a shower and laundry facilities, and a full kitchen, all of superior quality. Attractions & ActivitiesThe beautiful beaches of False Bay are just a five-minute drive from Somerset West, with warm waters and safe swimming. Strand offers superb fishing and its promenade allows for scenic strolls along the beachfront. The charming fishing village of Gordon's Bay is a prime location for water-sports and has a quaint yacht harbour. Nature lovers are spoilt for choice; the Helderberg Nature Reserve offers magnificent walks and hiking trails where guests can marvel at the indigenous flora and fauna. The Dick Dent Bird Sanctuary provides a fascinating opportunity to view bird life. Also recommended is the Boland Hiking Trail. One cannot miss the Helderberg wine route, which incorporates some of South Africa's best wines, with visits to Eikendal Vineyards, Longridge, Lourensford, Morgenster, Fleur du Cap and Vergelegen Estates within easy reach. Also it is worthwhile visiting the various historical buildings in the vicinity such as that of Vergelegen and the historical university town of Stellenbosch. For the active and outdoor enthusiasts there are numerous sporting facilities including that of croquet, bowling, tennis, squash and golf. There are three major golf courses in the area, including Erinvale, while Stellenbosch Golf Course, Devonvale and Arabella are close by. However, a thirty-minute drive into the Cape Town city centre provides a number of attractions such as the Castle of Good Hope, the Company Gardens, the craft market at Greenmarket Square and the South African Museum. The are unlimited opportunities in the Region for day trips such as a drive to Hermanus allows for a larger famous species to be spotted, the Southern Right Whale, the Fruit Tour, Wine and Garden Route as well as the West Coast along the Indian Ocean. All these and much more make a visit to our guesthouse a definite must. |

DIRECTIONS: From Cape Town Approaching from Cape Town or the Airport on the N2, turn left onto the R44 to Stellenbosch and a little further on, right into Main Rd (M9) to Somerset West. At the big intersection in Somerset West turn left into Lourensford Rd.(M168) and then turn into the second street to your right, Morkel Street! Proceed in Morkel street till after the pin needle turn, then you are on the corner of Oatlands & High Str, which is where our guesthouse is situated. |
