About Zingela Safari and River Company

Located in the Zulu Kingdom and only a stone’s throw from the Tugela River is Zingela Safari and River Company. A stone and canvas bush camp that was established in 1983, the camp has been created from natural materials and offers guests a choice of accommodation ranging from campsites to self catering accommodation or catered options in Larney Lane!


Our range of accommodation has something for everyone. Larney Lane is perfect for couples but Hotel and Aloes are more suited to groups who know each other. J.Camp is an extension of the main camp but has its own kitchen and dining areas. House on the Hill is just down river from J Camp and is used for those who want catered accommodation and for group who would prefer to self cater. Groups of forty can easily be accommodated and extra tents can be set up for additional guests.

Furnished with a King size bed and a single bed.

Dawsons Creek:
The outdoor shower probably has one of the best views in South Africa! Furnished with one double and one single bed.

Enjoy the private reading and sundowner spots Shayamoya has to offer. Sleeps three.

Consisting of two units on the same site, Eddies is ideal for family groups as it is close to the central camp. One unit has a double bed and another has four single beds.

Hotel and Aloes Top:
This accommodation is suitable for family groups as the two rooms are very close to each other. Each room can sleep up either two adults or three children.

Hotel and Aloes Bottom:
Sleeping up to ten when dormitoried, Hotel and Aloes bottom have a canvas roof and outside fireplaces.

J.Camp is within easy walking distance downstream of Zingela main camp. It consists of four en-suite thatched units built with mud and reed walls and traditional earth floors. There is a central simple bush kitchen for those who would like to self-cater or take advantage of our bed and breakfast package. Meals also available at the main camp

House On The Hill:
Sleeping 12 people in five rooms, the old farmhouse gets the first and last of the winter sun. The position of the house gives those who stay there a panoramic, eagles-eye view of the majestic Tugela River. Guests can choose either the catered or self-catered option. This is an ideal venue for small corporate groups who need privacy and un-interrupted inspiration!

Zingela is home to giraffe, wildebeest, ostrich, antelope and baboon. Abseil down the crags, try your hand at fly fishing or river raft down the Tugela River – the choice is endless.

Zingela is owner run and our aim is to exceed your expectations!
