A warm welcome awaits you at Whale Waters' Self-Catering Lodge situated on the De Kelders’ cliffs overlooking Walker Bay, well-known for its world renowned whale watching. A short walk (100m) through the Duiwelsgat Nature Reserve will lead you to the secluded Stanford Beach suitable for swimming and kayaking.

De Kelders is nestled on the coast just before the fishing village of Gansbaai - which became famous for its Great White Sharks - on the Danger Point peninsula in the Overberg region only 2 hours, 160km from Cape Town.

This magnificent Guest Lodge has 6 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Each room has breathtaking sea views and private balconies ideal to do whale watching from and to enjoy sun downer cocktails. Whale Waters' Guest Lodge has an unobstructed view of the ocean and coastline stretching from the white sand dunes of "Die Plaat", Hermanus and on a clear day - Cape Point is visible.

Accommodation


Whale Waters' Self Catering Lodge is a three storey house with an open plan lounge and dining area. It has a built-in braai for those lovely South African “Braais” (barbecue) leading out to the veranda and a heated swimming pool - all overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Each of the 6 en-suite bedrooms has under floor heating, separate honesty bar fridges, lock-up safes and air-conditioning.

Gansbaai Room
This is the only room on the second floor. It has a private balcony overlooking the sea. The room has a King size bed and the en-suite bathroom has a big spacious shower and spa bath. It is also equipped to accommodate disabled persons.

Walker Bay Room
This is our 'Honey Moon" suite. A large luxurious suite with a King size bed, fire place and a spacious balcony with a sea view. The en-suite bathroom has a shower and spa bath. Ideal for those special occasions.

Stanford Room
This is a unique double room with lots of sliding windows and a private balcony with a beautiful sea view. It has twin beds, en-suite bathroom with a big spacious shower.

Hermanus Room
This room has a beautiful ocean view. It has a king size bed and en-suite bathroom with a spa bath. The sliding doors open up onto a private balcony.

De Kelders East and West Rooms
These two separate bedrooms are very cool in the summer and are on the ground level of the lodge. Each room has twin beds, en-suite bathrooms with showers and sliding doors opening onto a private little veranda overlooking the ocean. These two rooms have a separate entrance to the house from the street and are also connected to the rest of the house via a stair case.

Gansbaai


The Great White Shark Capital of the World, Gansbaai is also known as the Big-2 Town - named after the Great White Sharks that dominate the west-eastern side of Gansbaai and the Southern Right Whales that play around the western side around July - December. Gansbaai is exactly the midway between Cape Point and Agulhas.

Gansbaai has endless beaches and rocky shores with different habitats of the Cape Floral kingdom, indigenous forest, agricultural land, vineyards, rural communities and flower farms. Gansbaai offers tourists banks, petrol stations, a new tourism office, Gateway Shopping Centre and there are also various little shops and restaurants all around the Main Street and the back streets leading to the Harbour.
