Whale Watchers Inn is your perfect half-way stop between Cape Town and Knysna while travelling down South Africa's glorious Garden Route.

Situated in Witsand, Whale Watchers Inn is located approximately 100 meters from the beach at San Sebastian Bay, which is well-known as “The Whale Nursery of South Africa.” The Inn is also within easy walking distance of the mouth of the mighty Breede River.

Johnny and Clair Pienaar started the guesthouse back in 1996, together with their housekeeper Emily, and they all continue to welcome you to this beautiful location.

Accommodation

Whale Watchers Inn is a 3 star guesthouse offering both Bed & Breakfast as well as serviced, self-catering family units, which also have the added option of a full country breakfast.

There are five comfortable en-suite double rooms available on a bed & breakfast basis, four of which are sea-facing and the other has a courtyard view. The five family units offer self-catering facilities and are fully equipped and serviced daily.

All rooms offer TV's, fridges and tea/coffee making facilities and Whale Watchers Inn also offers free WiFi Internet facilities to guests. A further bonus is that wheelchair friendly accommodation is also available.

Witsand is a quaint fishing village, located at San Sebastian Bay, right at the mouth of the mighty Breede River, home to the Big Cob. This small village is 300 kilometres from Cape Town along the Garden Route.

During your stay at Whale Watchers Inn you have the opportunity of whale watching from the comfort of your guesthouse balcony. Witsand offers excellent land-based whale watching and seeing a whale for the first time is an incredible experience. Watch as the magnificent 15 metre creature waves its massive tail and then hurls itself clear of the water in a breach - an amazing experience indeed.

While in Witsand, you can enjoy long, beautiful and totally unspoiled beaches, offering enjoyable and safe swimming conditions, as well as rock and surf fishing and sand boarding opportunities. Enjoy long strolls on the beach where you may be lucky and find one of the beautiful pansy shells or an even more precious Nautilus shell.
