About Victoria Bay Lodge

Victoria Bay Lodge in the heart of the Garden Route is situated halfway between George and Wilderness on the picturesque Cape South Coast.

Enjoy home comforts and reasonable prices at Victoria Bay Lodge. You have the sea, the sun, the beach and breathtaking scenery. First impressions of the chalets are crisp, clean and welcoming. Inside relax and enjoy the homely atmosphere. The chalets are large and airy with ample cupboard space, modern and neatly furnished. Blankets and linen are provided. Baby cots with bedding are available on request.

Each chalet is provided with cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils, 4-plate gas stove, toaster, electric kettle, 420 litre fridge and microwave oven. The 6-bed Chalets have two separate bedrooms and a lounge-come-bedroom. The 4-bed Chalets have one bedroom and a lounge-come-bedroom with two beds. All the bathrooms are equipped with a bath and separate shower. (Towels are not provided.)

Each chalet has its own carport and barbecue. The resort has a large under-roof "LAPA" where guests can socialise and braai during unsettled weather conditions. For the convenience if the guests the resort has a fully equipped Laundromat with washing machines, spin dryers and ironing facilities, and also a cafe and public telephone. For relaxation enjoy a game of Putt-Putt, Table-tennis or Darts.

From the balcony you can admire the beautiful Outeniqua mountain range and observe the changeable colours, especially during the early morning and late afternoon. The resort is 7 km from George where all postal, banking and shopping facilities are available and approximately 1.5 km from the beach.

George offers from "Wine, Dine and Dance" restaurants to the good old "Home cooking" type. George has one of the finest golf courses in the Cape, also a bowling green, tennis courts and other sporting facilities. Victoria Bay is one of the most famous beaches in the vicinity for safe bathing and is ideal for angling and a challenge to top surfers. There are also natural paddling pools amongst the rocks where children can spend many happy hours playing. Young and old can splash about or quietly observe the little fish in the tidal pools.

The warm waters of the beach lakes at Wilderness are but a few kilometres away. Drives along the coastal roads reveal the natural beauty of the mountains and forests, the seashore with clean sandy beaches, and the colourful flora, hence the name "Garden Route".

Places of interest include the world famous Cango Caves near Oudtshoorn and whilst in the vicinity, visit the ostrich farms and experience the thrill of a ride on the back of an ostrich. Not to be overlooked, the crocodile farm. These scaly creatures are really awesome. This farm also has a variety of other interesting features, including a snake park. There are opportunities for horse riding and hikes where the display of flora, being so much more noticeable, can be greatly admired.
