Watch the waves roll in during the day and the most beautiful sunsets over the Indian Ocean towards Buffels Bay at dusk. The house is set in 2000 square metres of fynbos and will delight nature and bird lovers alike. If you set up a sunbird drinker you will be amazed with the variety of sunbirds that turn up for the feast.

Accommodation


The house consists of five bedrooms and three bathrooms. Three bedrooms have double beds and two bedrooms have two single beds in each. Two of the bathrooms are full bathrooms with a WC and the third bathroom is smaller with a shower and WC. The house is fully furnished in a tasteful and relaxed fashion. The house is cleaned and the linen and towels are changed once a week or upon arrival and departure or upon request.

Activities and Attractions


The house is a short walk to the beach (600 meters) and about a 2 minute drive away from the Brenton Blue Butterfly Reserve. You can enjoy long walks on the beach to Buffels Bay (6 kilometres away) next to the Goukamma Nature Reserve or explore a rocky part of our coastline towards the Knysna Heads with its secluded beaches.

We have seasonal whale watching from June to November and dolphins all year round. Brenton beach is also known for its regular sighting’s of the rare Oyster Catcher who also nests on this unspoilt stretch of beach. The house is 4km from the Knysna lagoon from where it is possible to launch small craft safely. The lagoon opens up to the sea through the Knysna Heads, a sight not to be missed.

Gourmets can enjoy the many fine restaurants in the area which is also famous for its oysters. Why not join us for the oyster festival in July? The area also boasts many fine golf courses such as Fancourt and Sparrebosch and is known as golfer’s paradise. The area also has amazing beach, forest and mountain walks.

For the adventurous there is paragliding on Brenton’s huge dunes or the highest bungee jump at Stormsriver or cage diving with the sharks at Mossel Bay. There is a diving school and diving can be done at the Knysna Heads. Surfing is done at Brenton as well as at Buffels Bay. Check the conditions with the locals first.

Brenton on Sea is about 500 km from Cape Town, 70 km from George and the closest large airport and about 16 km from Knysna on the N2 to Port Elizabeth 270 km away.

Children


Children are welcome. However due to the balcony’s and stairs it is not suitable for toddlers.
