Umzimkulu Marina is situated on the south bank of the Umzimkulu River at Port Shepstone. The area has unspoilt sandy beaches with warm waters rich in marine life. These waters are ideal for fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving and swimming. The coastline features endless stretches of rolling surf ideal for surfing, ski-boating and fishing. The Umzimkulu River means 'home of all rivers'. It is the largest of the South Coast Rivers and meets the sea at Port Shepstone. Umzimkulu Marina is an owner-managed establishment and we cater for business executives, tourists and holidaymakers. Children are welcome and we offer a variety of different options for families.

Self Catering Accommodation

All units face the river and have beautiful views. There are four fully-equipped units which open on to veranda / braai areas and across lawns to the river. Tastefully and comfortably appointed all linen and towels supplied and we offer a cleaning service if required.

The two smaller units have double beds upstairs in loft areas with single beds downstairs. The other two larger units are five sleepers with separate bedrooms and one unit has an upstairs loft with a single bed. One of the larger units has a full bathroom with shower and bath. The other units have showers. All units have braai facilities and the kitchens have large fridges, microwaves, electric frying pans etc. There are television sets with TV 1, 2, 3 and e-TV and guests are welcome to bring their own smart cards for access to DStv through our decoders. We also have a DVD player in all units.

There are child friendly rolling lawns for games and a jungle gym. Cots are available. Perfect for family gatherings the units sleep up to 17 people, with safe and shaded parking. We are close to town and all shopping facilities but are quiet and peaceful.

Activities

We offer river boat cruises, deep sea fishing charters, pedal boat and canoes. We have our own private slipway and jetty for safe launching to explore the river. Guests are welcome to bring their own river boats although access to the sea by boat requires a current Skippers Ticket. Other deep sea fishing is offered from Shelley Beach Ski Boat Club which is 10 minutes away. Good fishing from the river banks with rock salmon, grunter, daga salmon, perch and leervis among the regular catches. Giant river crabs and shad in season.

Bird watching – we have a resident pair of fish eagles producing young every alternate year, we have large green turtles and the odd shark sighting adds to the excitement of life on the river.

Good restaurants downriver are accessible by car or boat. Shopping centres in Port Shepstone are just five kilometres away and the Shelly Beach Shopping Mall is fifteen kilometres away. There are golf courses, nature reserves and the adventure centre in Oribi Gorge for the adventurous and lovely beaches for the sun seekers.
