The Kuthumba Eco-Village falls inside the recently proclaimed Garden Route National Park.
The house was designed and built to work independently of mains, water and electricity with solar panels providing both electricity and hot water.
The house has a sod roof, and rain water is harvested. A solar pump provides drinking and potable water. Cooking is done with gas. The home has an Eskom connection and is connected to the grid.
Self Catering Accommodation
The main dwelling consists of a large downstairs living area with open plan kitchen, dining and lounge areas. Slightly separate is a study space which is also used as a bedroom. The house is fully furnished and includes a fridge, freezer and gas stove.
Each bedroom is fully furnished and the house sleeps four adults (two couples) perfectly.
Upstairs is a main bedroom with two basins and a bidet and it has a balcony. A separate studio holds an additional bedroom and the bathroom with an indoor and outdoor hot shower. A dry composting toilet is attached to this building.
The office cum-bedroom downstairs is suitable for children, and a double futon / mattress is provided. A 140 m² wooden deck with a swing bench overlooking the forest surrounds the house.
There are beautiful walks in the forest to Natures Valley while to the west it’s an equally lovely walk to Keurboomstrand along the coast.
There are mountain biking trails in the forest. Bird life is prolific and wild pigs, monkeys and bushbuck roam the area. It is a wondrous and peaceful place.
Nearby activities includes Africanyon, kloofing, Birds of Eden, Elephant Sanctuary, Zip lining and Forest Canopy tours, canoeing and bungee jumping.
