Activities and Attractions
Great outdoor activities such as walking and mountain biking are highly recommend. Many of the Cape Epic riders consider Greyton as one of the best MTB territory in South Africa (in 2014 Greyton was included as one of the stages). The trails range from family friendly to more strenuous. As outdoor lovers ourselves we provide maps and a water hose outside for cyclists to clean their bikes after a ride in the beautiful mountains.
Use the day pack if you want to go for a stroll or a hike and have picnic somewhere in the Nature Reserve. Or choose some of the other options Greyton has to offer such as bowling, 4x4 trails, do horse riding through the fynbos on the foothills of the splendid Riviersonderend Mountains, play tennis on the two newly renovated tennis courts, swim in the river next to the picnic site, do taste wines such as “A Long Road” at Lismore’s wines, a paradise nearby Greyton.
Driving up the long road to the estate house is a little like entering into a fairytale, both the journey there and the destination are sublimely beautiful. Or visit the Genadendal Museum which is the oldest Mission Station in South Africa with 15 exhibition rooms with a unique collection ranging from household equipment, musical instruments, tools, books, printing presses, the oldest fire-engine and oldest pipe organ in the country.
