Experience the warm Cape hospitality in this magnificent and elegant house that is a haven away from the turmoil of modern life. Surrounded by majestic palms this tranquil retreat overlooks the magnificent Constantiaberg Mountains, taking in the view of the “Twelve Apostles” and “Table Mountain”.

At Palm House our personal service and special attention to detail will ensure your stay will be an experience to be remembered. Palm House was designed by a protégé of renowned architect Sir Herbert Baker in the early 1920’s and has been lovingly restored to its full grandeur.

The entrance hall with its original oak floors and magnificent staircase greet you after entering the elegant arched entrance. Wood panelling open fireplaces and rich, relaxing and elegant décor will make you feel as though you are a special guest in a private home.

Accommodation


The beautifully decorated en-suite rooms in the main house are equipped with television, direct-dial phones, hairdryers and safes. Our suites and superior rooms also have fully stocked mini-bars.

Situated in the grounds is our Executive 3-Bedroom Cottage with lounge and open fire place or our Pool House that has 3 bedroom, 2 lounges, 2 bathrooms. This unit also has a balcony over-looking the pool and mountains. We also have two Family Cottages with 2 bedrooms, shower room and outside seating area. The décor is African colonial with natural colours and furnishings.

For those who mix business with pleasure we have Fax and Internet Service, so you need never be out of touch.

Facilities


Relax in the intimate Bar, in winter sit by the large open fire, and in summer sit out under the stars in the terrace garden. On those hot sunny days relax by the large sparkling swimming pool that receives the Cape sun all day, or simply walk in the grounds and take in our well-tended gardens.

Dining


A full English breakfast is included or you may prefer to serve yourself from our South African Breakfast Buffet, filled with fresh local fruits. For anyone with special dietary needs our staff will happily prepare something just for you. A Full evening Restaurant service is also available to those who wish to stay and enjoy the tranquillity of the house.

Location


Palm House is conveniently situated between Wynberg and Constantia, just a 15-minute scenic drive from the very heart of Cape Town and the Victoria & Albert Waterfront complex of shops and restaurants, where you can eat in the shadow of the famous “Table Top Mountain”.

Palm House is also centrally located to the most popular Golf Courses: Royal Cape, Mowbray, Westlake and Clovelly. It is just a short drive from Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and Constantia Winelands.

Your Hosts


Owned by an English couple Paul Scarlett & Tricia Payne, who were guests and liked the ambience so much, that they purchased Palm House. It is now managed by Tony & Ann Haseldine who are experienced in 5 star hospitality. The Palm House team will ensure your time in South Africa and especially your stay at Palm House will be a memory to be treasured.

Conferences & Cape Town Weddings


Palm House also offer full function and conference facilities. Palm House also specialises in small intimate garden weddings for up to 155 people. Conferencing for up to 40 people in theatre style or 25 people boardroom. Equipment: TV and VCR, Flipchart, Overhead Projector, Screen. All other technical equipment can be hired at an extra charge.
