The Orion in Middelburg, Mpumalanga

The Orion Guest House is situated in Middelburg, halfway between Pretoria and Lydenburg, on the Panorama Route. This is the gateway to the Kruger National Park, Swaziland and Mozambique.

Accommodation

Our secure and spacious rooms all have private access to the apartments with showers, air-conditioning, tea / coffee station, hairdryers, television (M Net, Movie Magic, Super Sport, SABC and E-TV). Each room has a mini fridge stocked with delicatessens and cold drinks for your pleasure. Wireless Internet is available in all rooms.

Facilities

Meals are served in a spacious dining room facing a beautiful Koi-pond with running water, and a Jacuzzi overflowing into a relaxing crystal clear swimming pool. A private lounge with DSTV and a built-in braai / fireplace is perfect for a social gathering. Secure parking with remote access to apartments is available. In the near future The Orion will also have conference facilities available, additional rooms and a self-catering unit.

Breakfast & Dining

Breakfast is served in our spacious dining room with running water and birds chattering in the garden. Our main breakfast consists of bacon, mince or a cheese griller, egg’s, buttered toast, mushrooms, baked beans and fried tomato. A variety of cereals with yoghurt or milk can be enjoyed as a starter. We also have a selection of fresh fruit. For early departures we can arrange a lunch-pack.

Lunch packs are available. Please order at least one day in advance. Included in lunch packs are a variety of sandwiches, yoghurt, cheese wedges, fresh fruit, fruit juice, cold meat and something sweet. Dinner is available from Monday to Thursday and will be served in the dining room with relaxed atmosphere overlooking the Koi-pond and swimming pool. We serve fruit juice and fresh milk as well as dessert with our dinner.

Attractions and Activities

Middelburg offers an abundance of exiting activities as well as unique cultural experiences. The Botshabelo Historical Village and craft markets can be visited as well as the Ndebele Village home to the well known Ndebele people. Game drives can be enjoyed in the various game reserves in and around Middelburg and for the fit, hiking on the numerous splendid hiking trials can be arranged.

Golfing enthusiasts can enjoy a relaxing round of golf at the undulating golf course at MCC or at Kranspoort Golf Course. Horse riding trials are available minutes away from Middelburg. Middelburg is situated just minutes away from Loskop Dam, Witbank Dam, Rondebosch Dam and Kruger Dam which is on The Orion guesthouse doorstep. These dams allow for an abundance of exiting water sports such as sailing, fishing, waterskiing etc.

Middelburg is also host to the well known Loskop Dam Marathon, Jazz Festival held in March every year and the Great Train race (fun run) between Emahlaleni (Witbank) and Middelburg. No matter what your preference, Middelburg has plenty to offer to all travellers. From fascinating cultural tours to adrenaline pumping water sports in pristine dam areas. Middelburg is the ideal holiday destination.

The Orion is situated nearby a shopping centre, restaurants, take-away shops, garage, cinema, casino, country club / golf course and a fitness centre for the fitness fanatics. We are within easy access of the N4 highway.
