The pristine sandy white beaches stretch for miles on either side of the Kowie River and offer safe swimming, lovely long walks, great surfing or laid back sun-bathing. The river, which is tidal and is navigable for 29 kms, is a paradise for boating, bird watching, water-skiing and fishing. Deep sea anglers and scuba divers can charter trips at the harbour. The Royal Port Alfred Golf Club is close by whilst the challenging Fish River Country Club Golf Estate is a 15 minute drive away. The Eastern Cape is malaria free and there are a number of wonderful game parks in the vicinity, some home to the Big 5. Hikers and horse riders are also well catered for. ACCREDITATIONS
