The Langvlei cottage is a true escape in a very inspiring setting. Watching the sun rise over the lake with my coffee every morning was only one of my highlights! The view is second to none! The house was very clean and bigger than expected. Shower pressure was great and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen was also very well equipped! There were just too many activities from hiking to canoeing etc so it was hard to decide what to do, but i can recommend hiking to the waterfall! Town is a few minutes drive away and has good restaurants and some talented musicians. The caretaker, Moog, is very relaxed and gave a lot of good advice. All in all, I want to live here, thanks Marianne, you know I will be back.
We (2 adults, 2 kids) looked forward to our stay at the Lanvlei. We were not dissapointed!
The absolute hightlight was the location. Peacefully situated a short drive from Wilderness, the house let us relax completely - our kids especially loved surfing (playing for hours in the waves) , we hiked the Waterfalltrail, swam in the river..
Do plan enough time for your visit to enjoy all the many great things to do and just sitting on the wonderful porch looking at the birds flying over the lake.
We will gladly come back to the house any time.
Of course we had to return again to this beautiful home in Wilderness :). Once again we enjoyed the tranquility of the surroundings and the coziness of the home. Unfortunately we couldn't stay forever, but we will be back! Thank you!!
The Lanvlei is fantastic. I loved sitting out on the stoep in the morning with my coffee watching the fish eagles circling the lake and we even spotted the Knysna loerie in one of the trees! The surroundings made us feel like we were tucked away in some far corner of the world, away from everybody, but at the same time enjoyed the fact that walking trails, the bird hide, canoes, shops, markets and the beach were at most 10 minutes away by car (or five minutes away on foot for the waterfall trail). The cottage is perfect for a retreat. It's comfortable for those needing the "necessities" of modern living (electricity, wifi etc) but takes one back in time. The cottage-style furniture (especially the dining room table), the fire place and clawfoot bath all help to create a wonderful, cosy, rustic and romantic atmosphere. I absolutely loved this place and we will definitely be coming back. I can't recommend it enough!
