Historic Kalk Bay offers a variety of antiques, crafts and collectibles in an array of picturesque shops lining its cobbled lanes. Savour the fare of the many traditional restaurants and pubs, including the world famous Brass Bell. This unique establishment overlooks the ocean, just two minutes' walk from your base at the Inn at Castle Hill.

South Africa's only shore-based colony of Jackass penguins can be visited at sheltered Boulders Beach, 20 minutes away, beyond the colourful Simonstown waterfront. We can arrange deep sea fishing charters or excursions to Seal Island, famous for its Great White sharks. In spring the whales visit the bay to sport in the calm waters of our harbour entrance.

Take a leisurely drive along the spectacular Strandfontein coast to the renowned Stellenbosch wine route, just 30 minutes away. There are three challenging golf courses in the vicinity of Castle Hill and many more to choose from within an hour's drive.

Silver Mine, Table Mountain and Cape Point nature reserves offer invigorating walks and hikes with abundant bird life, fynbos and wildflowers to please the eye.

Judy’s great grandfather, Abraham Zacharias Auret, hunted whales with a hand held harpoon from a rowing boat in these very waters 100 years ago. He also built the historic stone church situated a short walk from The Inn at Castle Hill.
