Tamakwa Country Lodge is situated in the village of Rosetta in the Natal Midlands with dramatic views of the Drakensberg Mountains. The Mooi River meanders along the boundary, encouraging a variety of bird and wildlife. Rosetta is on the Midlands Meander only 45 minutes from Pietermaritzburg near to Nottingham Road. Hosts, Wendy and Adrian Wilson offer a choice of luxury self-catering and bed and breakfast accommodation.

Cottages


The Lodge offers 3 different self-contained cottages, two of which are fully equipped for self catering:

Burberry Cottage (sleeps 2)
Burberry Cottage, the "honeymoon cottage" has a four poster double bed and en-suite bathroom with shower.

Bergview Cottage (sleeps 6)
Bergview Cottage is literally a 'small house' with one twin bedroom en-suite with shower and another two twin bedrooms sharing a bathroom with both bath and shower. The cottage has a spacious lounge with fireplace and bar counter as well as a dining room and fully equipped kitchen. It is ideal for a large family group with children.

Lavender Cottage (sleeps 4)
Lavender Cottage has two twin bedrooms. Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with underfloor heating - one with bath and shower and one with shower.The kitchen is fully equipped. This cottage is ideal for couples sharing or a family with two children.

The Farmhouse


The newly renovated Farmhouse provides four elegant units, accommodating two persons in each - two bed-and-breakfast and two self-catering. Each unit is uniquely decorated and presents stylish and comfortable country living at its best.


Farmhouse Suite 1 - (sleeps 2)

Suite 1 has twin Beds with an ensuite bathroom, cosy lounge area with fireplace and underfloor heating. Bed & Breakfast suite.

Farmhouse Suite 2 - (sleeps 2)
Suite 2 has a double bed with fireplace in the bedroom, en-suite bathroom, cosy lounge area with underfloor heating. Bed & Breakfast suite.

Farmhouse Suite 3 - (sleeps 2)
Suite 3 has a double bed with fireplace in the bedroom, en-suite bathroom, cosy lounge area with underfloor heating and sleeper couch, as well as a fully equipped kitchen. Bed & Breakfast or Self Catering suite.

Farmhouse Suite 4 - (sleeps 2)
Suite 4 has a double bed, ensuite bathroom, cosy lounge area with fireplace, underfloor heating and sleeper couch, as well as a fully equipped kitchen. Bed & Breakfast or Self Catering suite.

Breakfast


A Continental, Health or full English Breakfast is included in the B&B tariff. Breakfasts are available for Self Catering guests at a small additional fee.

Dinner


The Rose @ Tamakwa serves an a la carte menu and resident chef, Jonathan Crawford, will titivate, captivate and stimulate your taste buds with his dishes. Jonathan's style incorporates both South African and international influences. To support and enhance the food, we have a varied and high quality wine list consisting of excellent South African wines.

Activities


• Try your hand at tempting the wild brown trout, rainbow or yellow fish on approximately 1 km of the Mooi River on the property. There are numerous other fly-fishing venues nearby. A professional fishing guide can be arranged if required.
• There are a number of golf courses in close proximity.
• There is an array of arts and crafts outlets on the nearby Midlands Meander.
• Excellent restaurants on our doorstep.
• We are 50 minutes away from the Giants Castle Drakensberg Park and 20 minutes from the Kamberg reserve. We are one hour from the historical battlefields of the Zulu and Anglo Boer wars.
• We are in close proximity to a number of private schools, including Michaelhouse and Clifton schools.
• There are a number of easy walks on the property.
• A variety of bird species can be spotted on the property.
